MSF denounces restrictions on humanitarian access that the government of South Sudan has imposed exclusively in parts of the opposition-held areas of Jonglei state.
The worsening humanitarian crisis in South Sudan needs urgent international prioritization. doctorswithoutborders.org/latest/south-s…

Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) will not share a list of its Palestinian and international staff with Israeli authorities as part of the registration process to work in Gaza and the West Bank.
This decision comes after many months of unsuccessful engagement with Israeli authorities and in the absence of assurances of the safety of our staff and the independent management of our operations.

Israel has knowingly given MSF and our Palestinian colleagues an impossible choice: either we provide staff information or abandon hundreds of thousands of Palestinians who need vital medical care.
To continue providing aid in Gaza and the West Bank, MSF has informed Israeli authorities that we are prepared to share a defined list of Palestinian staff and international staff names, subject to clear parameters with staff safety at the core. This is an exceptional measure. This follows extensive discussions with our Palestinian colleagues and would only be carried out with the express agreement of the individuals concerned.
Our priority remains the safety of our staff while continuing to provide essential healthcare to those in dire need: msf.org/msf-statement-…

Many of the complications that women face during pregnancy and childbirth are preventable.
Hear from our colleagues in Nigeria, CAR, and Bangladesh on their work to reduce the delays and barriers to care that put pregnant women’s lives at risk:

"This is about the manipulation and the instrumentalization of humanitarian assistance." As Israel orders @MSF to stop operating in Gaza, its head @Chris_lockyear tells me they're seeing "a propaganda campaign against humanitarian organizations... putting our staff and our activities in acute danger."

People continue to attempt to flee El Fasher, with 300 people arriving in Tawila, North Darfur, yesterday. @MSF reiterates its calls for the RSF to allow more people to flee safely amid reports of people remaining stranded and held for ransom around El Fasher.
MSF medical teams report extremely high levels of malnutrition among children and adults.
Since 26 October MSF has provided medical care to over 1,300 people in a hospital and health post in Tawila, where MSF teams are also conducting assessments of the most pressing humanitarian needs among newly displaced people.
Our patients have experienced or witnessed disturbing violence. In MSF facilities, we are seeing extremely high levels of malnutrition, primarily among children under five and pregnant women; gunshot wounds; fractures; and other injuries consistent with beatings and torture. The violence has had a huge impact on mental health.
There is also a severe lack of basic essential services, such as water, food and shelter inside the Tawila’s camps where people have gathered.
MSF works in eight states in Sudan providing medical care to anyone who needs it regardless of race, religion of political affiliation.

We denounce the horrendous mass atrocities and killings, both indiscriminate and ethnically-targeted, that have culminated this week in and around El Fasher, Sudan.

"At the entrance of Tawila, we have set up a health post to assist people arriving from El Fasher. We screen all children under 5, on October 27th, 100% were malnourished, either severely or moderately. Three siblings arrived alone after losing their entire family.” Giulia Chiopris, @MSF Paediatrician in Tawila, North Darfur

One of the worst cholera outbreaks in a decade is spreading across DR Congo, but the health care system remains unequipped to respond to and slow down an outbreak of this scale.
A swiftly coordinated international humanitarian response is needed to contain the spread of the disease. bit.ly/3J96koD

There is still time to prevent nearly $10 million dollars’ worth of contraceptives from being incinerated.

#TalkAboutSudan - Getting essential medical supplies into Sudan is getting even more difficult.
The process can take months— a major challenge when the need is so high and a swift response is necessary, further complicated by drone attacks at key infrastructure points.
Our teams are responding to the cholera outbreak in the capital, Khartoum, and providing care across Sudan for malnutrition, measles, and emergency response. Hear from MSF staff members working to get supplies into the country: Authorities must fast-track humanitarian supplies into Sudan.

📍South Darfur, Sudan: The cholera treatment centers MSF is supporting are overwhelmed. A large-scale vaccination campaign in needed immediately. ⬇️

🚨South Darfur, #Sudan, is facing a deadly #cholera outbreak. As of 5 August, the Ministry of Health in South Darfur has reported 1,440 suspected cases and 74 deaths. We are supporting cholera treatment centres which are now overwhelmed. This situation could have been avoided with vaccines, however they are still not even available in Darfur. WHY? 👇
