secp256k1-jdk is a modern, functional-style Java API with two implementations for Java, JDK, @graalvm, Kotlin, Scala, etc. It aims to be the standard library for secp256k1 in the greater JDK/JVM Bitcoin ecosystem. Version 0.2 is now available for early integration testing.

Is it a good time to re-signify the NFT acronym to "Nix Fixes This"?

This hasn't come up yet but eventually will. What about Android Support in RxJava 4? According to Grok, there are a bunch of desugaring available for post-Java 8 features in the ecosystem. Unfortunately it seems, java.util.concurrent.Flow isn't one of them. It isn't even in the standard library. It's just 4 interfaces?! We'll go full juc.Flow. We drop the Reactive Streams interfaces and become zero 3rd party dependency library. Since Flow* are just 4 interfaces, maybe someone can whack them into your environment and use any interop library to talk to RxJava 4 or any Flow-based library. Or, if you have some influence over the Android ecosystem, maybe you could help from your end. 🙏

@geerlingguy @ibuildthecloud It hasn't really changed that much: iMac -> iMac or Mac Mini iBook -> MacBook Air Power Mac -> Mac Studio (or Mac Pro) PowerBook -> MacBook Pro So there's a headless option for consumer desktop and an (unlikely) second option for pro desktop. (yes there are more config options)

Oh my gosh, trying to buy a Mac. I feel like it's as bad as trying to buy a Dell. The options are ridiculous, so confusing. How did Apple become like this?

I tried #openclaw and I didn't get it. It was incredibly complicated. Everyone made it sound simple. The docs were.... 😐 The magic was in the WhatsApp integration and Cron jobs. Something opinionated in the space would do well. Any recommendations?

@geerlingguy If they run it (even partially) with local models I feel it is in the spirit of Pi (i.e. a Pi-like thing.)

Hot take, not happy about this—feels like Helium miner craze, where people were buying up Pis in droves for a short time, making them hard to come by for people using Pis for more Pi-like things. At least with homelab-type use cases it's a slow roll.

The tech corners of the internet are buzzing with talk of OpenClaw, an open source AI agent. Our Maker in Chief has been playing around with it in the Maker Lab at Pi Towers for the past couple of weeks to find out what it’s really capable of. raspberrypi.com/news/turn-your…

I reported this phishing app weeks ago to @Apple’s legal team for trademark violation in the hope they would take swift action and remove it. The app remains on the @Appstore. @AppleSupport appears unable or unwilling to manage fraud on their platform.

🚨ALERT!🚨The fake Sparrow mobile wallet scammer is back. This time masquerading as an expense tracker. Anyone entering their seed phrase will have their wallet emptied. How does Apple let this keep happening? @AppStore @AppleSupport @CorySwan @TomerStrolight @ProofOfMoney

@RossComputerGuy @phoronix Waiting for an Apple Silicon (headless) machine that can dual-boot Linux and macOS, can run nested hardware virtualization in both environments, and that’s not too expensive . I think that means an M4 Mini. (There are no M3 Minis and the Studio M3 Ultra is expensive)

@gunnarmorling @maxandersen Well to be fair, he wrote it for Java developers and his opening paragraph says “Java deserves to be better in the terminal” and 2026 is the year we are going to fix it. Not really intended for an HN audience.

@lzsthw @myfear The later examples in the Oracle tutorial weren’t fully updated for Java 25 and still had unnecessary boilerplate. (public, static, and unused args)

A couple days ago I spent 30 minutes trying out Java 2025--a language that I haven't used in 20 years--and I have to say I'm impressed. Quite a few annoyances were gone and it was way easier to use. I'm curious to try a larger project with it to see if it is actually improved.
