The Supreme Court has ruled that under UK law, trans people never had the rights people like you insisted they had. You misrepresented the law and cheered on the removal of women’s rights. Trans people have lost nothing except the mistaken belief you fostered.
Rachel Millward@rachelmillward

Today my heart is with our trans community, treated so abysmally in this country. Draft guidance means trans people are barred from services they could previously access & inclusive service providers will be at legal risk. Green Party statement: greenparty.org.uk/2026/05/22/sia…

I am outraged that a swastika flag was raised overlooking Washington Square Park. This hateful antisemitic act was meant to spread fear among and intimidate Jewish New Yorkers. It has no place in our city. Our administration is committed to fighting antisemitism in all its forms and protecting the safety of Jewish New Yorkers. The NYPD Hate Crime Task Force is investigating this despicable act, and I am confident those responsible will be held accountable.

Brain Teaser: What might go wrong if you allow illegal aliens to live in weed trucks in the Bronx? ───────────── The suspect wanted for fatally stabbing a man on a Bronx street in March was nabbed at JFK Airport after a flight from Mexico, police said Wednesday — revealing for the first time that the alleged killer was, in fact, the victim’s girlfriend. Dulce Hernandez, 28, was charged Tuesday with murder, manslaughter, assault and criminal possession of a weapon and ordered held without bail when she was arraigned on an indictment. She’s accused of stabbing of her boyfriend, Ramon Vasquez, 35, the night of March 28 on Webster Ave. near Parkside Place in Norwood. Police said the fatal confrontation happened next to a weed truck parked across from a gas station. Vasquez, stabbed in the chest, was rushed by medics to St. Barnabas Hospital but could not be saved. The suspect fled the scene, but police said they recovered the knife she used to kill Vasquez. A case against her was recently presented to a grand jury, then police learned she was due to fly back to New York City on Tuesday. The next night after the stabbing, an employee at the gas station, who did not witness the incident, told the Daily News that five men appeared to be living in the weed truck — and had been doing so for about 6 months — and most mornings would offer to wash cars being serviced at nearby auto shops. The employee said he had not seen the men since the fatal incident. The truck, which displayed Georgia license plates, appeared unoccupied the next evening after the deadly stabbing. Hernandez, who was charged in November in an unrelated misdemeanor assault case, lives in Norwood three miles north of where he was fatally assaulted. Vasquez lived at a different address in Norwood. nydailynews.com/2026/05/13/wom…

These 36 gang members were some of the most violent criminals in New York City, who terrorized Brownsville for years. Thanks to the precision policing of NYPD detectives, they are finally off our streets. nbcnewyork.com/news/local/cri…

A 7-month-old baby was shot and killed today in Brooklyn — an unthinkable loss. I’m grateful for the hospital staff who did everything they could and the NYPD for their ongoing work to find those responsible for this heinous murder. We cannot accept this violence as normal. Too many families have suffered this pain.

I’m saddened to learn that a New Yorker in city custody died early this morning. He was transferred from Rikers Island to Elmhurst Hospital yesterday evening, where he was receiving medical attention. My thoughts are with his family and loved ones as they endure this profound loss. Every person in our city’s care deserves dignity, safety, and access to quality medical treatment—without exception. Transparency is essential and the Department of Correction and oversight partners have begun an investigation into the circumstances of his death.

An estimated 400 teens are running amok downtown on State St. and Michigan Ave. It's an absolute mess. CPD contact tells us some teens have mace and tasers. Teens were tasing people. One teen has been hospitalized. Multiple arrests, multiple fights. Tact Teams sent downtown. A curfew was imposed at 10 p.m. This is probably just an "isolated incident," and we urge you not to demonize unruly teens.

I have been briefed on the tragic collision that took place at LaGuardia Airport late last night. The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating the incident, and the City is in close contact with federal, state, and local partners. I am grateful to our first responders, whose swift actions saved lives. The flight operator, Air Canada, has set up a hotline for friends and families of affected passengers: 1-800-961-7099. LaGuardia Airport is currently closed. The Port Authority advises travelers to check with their airline for the latest flight information before coming to the airport.

Today, I signed an executive order establishing the first-ever Mayor’s Office of LGBTQIA+ Affairs and appointing the brilliant Taylor Brown as Director. Well that didn't take long ... ──────────── Manhattan prosecutors declined to pursue an assault charge against Gusmane Coulibaly on Thursday night, instead charging him with misdemeanor obstructing government administration and a harassment violation in connection with the viral Washington Square Park snowball fight. Coulibaly, 27, was arraigned in Manhattan Criminal Court on Thursday evening and released on supervised release, hours after the NYPD announced his arrest in the case stemming from a massive snowball fight after Monday’s blizzard. About a dozen uniformed officers sat in the courtroom along with union leadership, including Police Benevolent Association President Patrick Hendry. . . . . . Police had initially said Coulibaly was arrested for allegedly assaulting officers who were struck with snow and ice during the gathering. But prosecutors did not include an assault count in the charging documents. gothamist.com/news/manhattan…

Here’s the latest on the snow: We’re expecting 6–8 inches on Sunday and another 1–3 inches Monday. Starting Saturday, we begin pre-snow operations — mounting plows, loading salt spreaders, and preparing our crews. New York City Department of Sanitation will move to 12-hour shifts Sunday, with more than 5,000 workers rotating day and night to keep our streets clear. Code Blue will be in effect. Our outreach teams will canvass 24/7 across all five boroughs to connect vulnerable New Yorkers to shelter and warm spaces. No one will be denied shelter. If you see someone who needs support, call 311. Stay informed: text NotifyNYC to 692-692 or visit nyc.gov/beready.
Mayor Zohran Kwame Mamdani@NYCMayor

New Yorkers: Snow is forecast for Sunday into Monday—and we are ready. Right now, the most likely scenario is light snow Sunday morning, a break, and then more snow Sunday evening that could stretch into Monday morning. The expected range is between 3 to 4 inches total, with a smaller chance that totals climb past 6 inches. Daytime temperatures will be within the mid to upper 30s, with overnight lows dipping into the 20s. That means we could see slick roads and icy sidewalks Sunday night into Monday morning. Crews are preparing, and we’ll be monitoring conditions closely. If you can, give yourself extra time to travel, check in on neighbors—especially seniors—and take it slow out there. We’ll keep you updated every step of the way. Stay safe, stay warm, and let’s look out for one another.

Nobody should be surprised when the results of this ‘savings’ initiative reveal that the police budget can be cut by 75% but zero dollars should be removed from any of the nonprofits currently grifting the city to the tune of $20B/year.
Mayor Zohran Kwame Mamdani@NYCMayor

This morning, I joined @PIX11News to announce a new executive order requiring every city agency to designate a Chief Savings Officer. Within 45 days, these officers will identify which city services deliver the strongest results for New Yorkers—and where we can streamline processes and cut waste. The goal is simple: make sure every public dollar works harder to deliver a safer, cleaner, and more affordable city.
