For the last few weeks @Gichamba55 and I have been trying to purchase an @mojaexpressway ETC gadget, we have been told to check because there was a shortage. Today, blatantly at the Museum Hill entrance, we were told we can get one for an extra amount on the side🤬🤬 #whatgives

@oloojl @mojaexpressway I did a double payment, one transaction failed and they have refused to refund despite multiple follow-ups.

Kenyans have a strange expectation that local production = cheaper. Their experience in production of eggs, cereals etc doesn't count

Kenyan intellects think fuel will be cheaper with Dangote in the mix. They should talk to Nigerians. Dangote firmly believes in Monopolistic competition.

Kenya has not treated affordable housing as a stand-alone construction programme. We see it as a platform for job creation, industrial development, enterprise growth and market expansion.
Our approach to the programme is anchored on structural economic transformation, with a focus on dignity, productivity, industrialisation, investment, jobs, climate action and urban equity.
This afternoon, I participated in a panel discussion on Housing for Economic Transformation, Urban Equity and Human Dignity at the Hamburg Sustainability Conference in Germany, where I highlighted the progress Kenya has made so far.
Achieving such progress requires political goodwill, legal and institutional clarity, a strong legislative framework through the Affordable Housing Act, domestic resource mobilisation, and active private sector participation.

The reported award of a Ksh. 375 Billion contract to China Communications Construction Company for the expansion and modernization of Jomo Kenyatta International Airport is a massive infrastructure undertaking that must be subjected to the highest standards of transparency and value for money. Modernizing our critical aviation hub is essential for economic growth, but the proposed funding model of relying heavily on commercial loans backed by the Air Passenger Service Levy risks placing an unfair burden on Kenyan travelers and airlines. This levy must not become a hidden financial tool that inflates the cost of flying without delivering clear benefits to ordinary citizens.
The Law Society of Kenya calls for full public disclosure of the contract terms and procurement process to ensure absolute compliance with the Constitution and public procurement laws. We demand rigorous oversight to guarantee local content participation for Kenyan firms, alongside independent verification that this massive project delivers genuine value given the country’s debt sustainability concerns. Large scale infrastructure projects must serve the public interest and uphold the public finance principles under Article 201 of the Constitution. The @LawSocietyofKe will monitor this development closely and stands ready to take swift legal action on any constitutional violations that arise.

@alexmwanzo @MoRidez How about people start using flatbeds to avoid those charges and wait until they're issued with their numberplates?
English

Hello Alex, kindly request your assistance in highlighting this matter.
NTSA recently discontinued the use of KD numbers unless the vehicle is registered under the importer’s name on the entry number. Previously, vehicles could be moved using KD plates regardless of who was using them. However, NTSA has also not been dispatching KDY physical plates for the past month, creating a serious challenge for vehicle importers.
As a result, many imported vehicles remain stranded at Container Freight Stations (CFS) and ports awaiting the issuance of physical number plates. This delay is causing importers to incur substantial storage charges at ports and customs warehouse fees, leading to significant financial losses.
We respectfully urge NTSA to expedite the production and dispatch of physical number plates to facilitate the timely release of vehicles. Alternatively, NTSA could temporarily reinstate the use of KD plates, as was previously allowed, until the backlog of physical plates is cleared.
Prompt action on this matter would greatly alleviate the burden currently facing vehicle importers and prevent further unnecessary losses.

There is a new cash cow in town. 🚨 If you import a car to Kenya right now, @ntsa_kenya is taking weeks to print physical plates after allocation. Since CFS storage fees are piling up, you're forced to drive from Mombasa with your registration on a piece of paper. (1/4)
