Matthew Poitras is going to be that “one that got away” Told you in the summer of 2023 that this kid was going to make the team out of camp… Going into all of the reasons and the intangibles is exhausting with some of you because all you care about is the ‘box score’ Poitras is going to be a heck of an NHL’er — has top-6 Center upside and is a true playmaker. Extremely smart with the puck and despite his size always plays bigger than what he is That said, and I’ve said this since day-1: I would be very hesitant to walk away from this kid. Unless you’re bringing in a legitimate talent you give him the runway next season Had a hell of a playoff game tonight for Providence #NHLBRUINS #NHL #BRUINS

The Bruins had some real good stories this year, and positives to try* and build on. HOWEVER, take a look under the hood and you'll realize there's a fair share of makeup on the pig and a lot of work to be done system wise and personnel - the latter of which is harder. Some positives: - 12 win and 24 pts ⬆️ from last year - 29th ➡️ 9th in PP% - 28th ➡️ 8th in GF/GM - 29th ➡️ 11th in Goal/Diff - Overall good job by Sturm in year one - Swayman bounce back, Vezina finalist - McAvoy best offensive season - Pastrnak another 100 pts - Geekie / Zacha career high in goals, points - Emergence of Minten, Khusnutdinov - Aspirot team leder in +\- - Hagens taste of pro hockey Some negatives: - Still a true 1C and another top-6 winger short - Still another true top 4 / top pair defensemen short - Elias Lindholm dealing with chronic back problems while still on the books for 5 years with limited team control - Hampus Lindholm (albeit coming back from knee injury and dealing w foot fracture this year) had an underwhelming season - Struggled executing man-on-man when implemented - 26th in expected Goal/Diff (-30) - 2nd most PIMS - 5th most in shots on goal against (2436) - 4th most in high danger shots on goal against (306) - 23rd in high dangers shots on goal for (267) - 5th in defensive zone giveaways - 24th in PK % for 2nd straight year (77% ⬆️ from 76.36) Bruins rallied against the naysayers and made the playoffs - but ultimately, they spent way too much time defending and were too reliant on goaltending and opportunistic scoring. It's easy for us spectators to say they need established, higher end speed and skill - but acquiring it? That's going to take some offseason creativity, and execution that i'm really not sure how they plan to do it but we'll see. First domino to drop is the lottery - because if TOR keeps their pick and BOS can't use their TOR or FLA picks for another couple years then you probably see Sweeney view those more as trade chips to help supplement Pastrnak, McAvoy window. If BOS gets 6 or 7 overall from TOR this year then you draft best available.

NEW: Though DOJ's paid a $1.25 mil settlement to former Trump adviser Carter Page for what it called the Obama regime's "political sham" investigation of Page as a "Russian agent" inclg illegal wiretaps, individual lawsuits against the ex-FBI officials who signed off on the FISA spying (despite knowing it was predicated on a debunked Hillary-funded dossier)--Comey, McCabe, Clinesmith, Strzok, Lisa Page, Pientka, Somma and Auten--remain unresolved; and they have until Wednesday to respond to Page's SCOTUS petition after several delays. They recently asked the high bench for another extension, their fourth. Page first filed his suit in 2020.

Barack Obama to The New Yorker: Netanyahu tried to persuade me to go to war with Iran using the same arguments he later presented to Trump. “Maybe Netanyahu got what he wanted, but I doubt whether that’s what’s good for the citizens of Israel or the United States. There is extensive documentation of my disagreements with Netanyahu.”

I don’t know, you strike me as someone smart enough to know that a good test as to whether someone is sympathetic to Nazis is if they’ve ever said a single word in their entire life that could be construed as sympathetic to Nazis. But I guess the story you’d have us believe is this: a group of American marines, who risked their lives for this country, decided to get skull and crossbones tattoos together in their 20s that they all knew were Nazi symbols. Then they all kept their actual Nazi sympathies hidden for the next decade, a time when Platner frequently took his shirt off in front of his Jewish family, who I suppose either didn’t care about his Nazi sympathies or didn’t recognize the symbol you claim is extremely obvious. And then Platner, who was clearly not shy about expressing all kinds of views on Reddit, especially all the offensive shit he now regrets, somehow managed to keep his Nazi sympathies hidden from the world, as did his Nazi-sympathizing Marine friends who got the same tattoo. Yes, this makes sense. You cracked it for sure. Bravo. Congrats on being smarter than all those rubes in Maine who’ve fallen for the secret Nazi’s cover story.

I think if one is trying to figure out if a candidate is sympathetic to Nazis, one of the most important tests is whether the candidate knowingly got a death’s head tattoo signifying an elite, brutal group of SS officers and kept it until the second he wanted to run for Senate and someone noticed. It’s an insult to everyone’s intelligence to suggest otherwise. Sorry, his Medicare thoughts from last week are not permanent body art or absolution.
Jon Favreau@jonfavs

As the community note makes clear, I didn't delete it because I stand by it. But if MAGA world has decided their best play is to insult Mainers' intelligence by trying to fool them into thinking Platner's old tattoo makes him a Nazi sympathizer, best of luck in November!

Boston at $188M with five trade exceptions totaling $45M is a war chest hiding in plain sight. The $27.7M TPE alone can absorb an All-Star caliber player without sending a single dollar back. Add the $8.2M and $4.7M exceptions and Boston can add three rotation players through trades using only exceptions. Tatum and Brown are locked in. White at $17M remains one of the best value contracts in the league. Pritchard off the bench at a fraction of what comparable scorers make. The roster has two gaps: center (Queta on a team option is a placeholder) and wing depth behind Tatum and Brown. The $27.7M TPE is perfectly sized to address the center position. Boston's front office has spent three years turning departing players into trade exceptions instead of dead money. That discipline is now paying off in the form of $45M in cap-free acquisition tools during a championship window.

The entire concept of paparazzi is weird. Why do we need to be following celebrities around and taking so many pictures of them just…being? Feel like we should’ve moved on front the celeb worship at this point.
