Dear Lord Mayor @RonaldBalimwezo, if you're the leader we support and in whom we have placed so much hope, you should come out publicly and apologise to the foot soldiers. More than anyone else, as a member of NUP, a political party that is home to thousands of foot soldiers, you should know that many of them dress and present themselves the way they do not by choice, but because of circumstance. For you to suggest that they must match your appearance to deserve an opportunity from you was ridiculous. You have always been, and still are, a leader to those young people. Instead, you could have organised mentorship and mindset sessions to help them grow into the standards you desire, or simply listened to them and addressed the root causes. Even if your message was well-intentioned, the way it was packaged fell well below the standards expected of a leader. Please do what leaders do. 🙏
