I wanted to share some thoughts on today's market crash. For those who are just waking up and seeing everything down 10-50% and wondering wtf happened, it very much seems that today's crash is a reaction to the escalation of the conflict in the middle east. It seems like when news broke of Iranian drones being directed at Israel and being shot down, fear spread rapidly about the possibility of "world war 3". I'm not a geopolitical savant and I don't care to weigh in on the actions taking place, other than to talk about how they might impact the crypto space. Before that, though, a quick story on perspective. Yesterday in Sydney, Australia, there was a horrific mass-stabbing at a popular shopping center in Bondi. I believe 6 people died with another dozen or so injured, including a baby. When it happened, I was overcome with a feeling of sadness and horror at such a seemingly random thing that could have happened to anyone, and was largely out of anyone's control. And then I started to feel overwhelmingly appreciative for the fact that my life had not just been upended by unimaginable tragedy like all the victim's of that attack and their families. Most of us have it pretty, pretty, pretty good in life. While that attack was horrific, it pales in comparison to what happen during War. War is so insanely fucked up most of us literally can't even comprehend it, and most of us choose (perhaps, wisely, for mental self preservation reasons) to not think about the day to day horrors of war. So many innocent people die, there is so much suffering, so much pain, fear, and tragedy. And it is relentless during war. It's fair and reasonable not to dwell on the bad things happening on the other side of the world, but it also serves as such an incredible wake up call at how fortunate we all are who aren't living in a war torn region. I say all this because talking about crypto prices can seem shallow and unsympathetic at time's like this, but, just because something terrible is happening doesn't mean that nothing else matters. Many people have lots of money in the crypto markets and these price fluctuations significantly impact their lives and that of their families. So what do I make of this crash? I think it's a reflexive reaction to global fear, and I think it's a "healthy" correction and drawback in what has otherwise been a literally unprecedented bull run with new ATHs hitting pre-halvening. Some might want to compare it to March 2022 when the Russia/Ukraine war broke out, but I believe it is different for many reasons -- that happened when the crypto cycle had already had a blow off top and was in between two halvenings, this is right before a halvening. That happened in a year when a dozen other black swan events happened; many of those risks are no longer present this cycle, and I think it's unlikely we see more similar crypto explosions. I think if you had capital sidelined, this is a reasonable time to be buying the dips on good coins. If you didn't, I don't think this is a time to sell into fear. We might go down more from here, but the medium and long term prospects of crypto haven't changed and I still think we're going to continue to have a bullish year from here on out. Don't just take my word for it -- arguably the greatest crypto trader and predictor of markets (not to mention a great geopolitical mind, imo), GCR, came out of retirement to basically say as much: If you've been sidelined, believe this is a good opportunity to scale into high conviction tokens If you're fully invested, just survive, hold your spot positions and do not capitulate It's a great time to touch grass, spend time with loved ones and be thankful and grateful for the things you **do** have in life. The crypto markets will do whatever they're gonna do, and it's entirely out of your control anyway. Focus on the things that are in your control 💜
