Atlanta Braves GM- Alex Anthopoulos was 92.9 Years he Game this morning. Here is what he said- - he thinks last year they got away from focusing on how the pieces of the team fit together, the club house and the right team chemistry. This offseason he put a premium on the right team over just a collection of good players (I don’t know if it was an intended dig on the Mets but that’s what it was)- -He said this group of players compliments each other well and that’s why they’ve played well rounded baseball so far- - they never got close to signing a SP once spring started and yes he saw all of us crying for it- -there’s nothing he can do to make people feel better in the offseason he just has to do his job which is put together a winning team. He said sure he can go on the radio and say “trust me here is the plan” but if you’re explaining yourself you’re losing (moneyball vibes- “it’s a problem you think we need to explain ourselves”). - -He said in his role he has to do what he thinks is the right move and you can make the big move in the offseason and fans will be happy for a little while but once the season starts if that doesn’t result in winning it’ll change quickly.- -BC nothing but winning matters to fans and it’s his job to field a winning team and he can’t let fans offseason opinions dictate what he does (basically another Mets feeling dig lol)- -They haven’t not made any moves bc of money it’s usually bc they haven’t thought a certain move was the right deal for the teams future and he has to make runway for the young guys as the older guys get more expensive and he needs younger guys coming behind them to avoid ever blowing it up and rebuilding.- - he said the three guys he’s most pleased or impressed with so far- Dom, Dubón and Elder. He said Elder going every 5 days is huge and allows them to rest everyone else.- - Austin Riley has been here before. He said Riley doesn’t want to he streaky and he referred to Harris and Ozzie’s careers and how bad they were first half of 2025 and turned it around the second half.- - he said everyone including Riley is working on fixing Riley and it will get figured out he said they thought they had figured somethings out in Philly but there’s more work to do- - it was ridiculous fans thought there was a world they didn’t pick up Ozzie’s option- -Sean Murphy will be back for Seattle- - he joked his wife won’t watch the games with him bc he’s not optimistic or positive enough and he paces and prepares for the worst (and you guys cry in too negative lol)-
