Doesn’t mean the people have to accept being lied to. The truth matters - GG should force a new election to legitimise the government and its proposed plans. The people should decide as a democratic country on such major changes in policy that were also very different from what was proposed to get elected. This is basic democracy and just because most politicians have lied in the past doesn’t mean we need to keep putting up with this. We should adopt,as has been done in Wales UK, a law where if any politician is caught lying they are immediately forced to step down by law ( all “special government“ retirement benefits are forfeited as well) and a by-election must be held. Institutions of government rely on trust and until we fix this trust will continue to erode and will eventually destroy us. So no it’s not ok to lie as a politician ever from any side of politics. We need to take a stand for truth, for once.

I hear what you say Bob and also have no confidence in the govt. However, opinion polls are still showing Labor will win the next election, so why would the GG dissolve parliament? It still bewilders me that anyone would vote to return this govt to power let alone they are still likely to be returned.
