Belong To has provided training and materials to schools and teachers that advise against disclosing a child’s disclosure of transgender to parents. They are a very dangerous NGO. Not appropriate for the President to be their Patron.

The President of Ireland Catherine Connolly has become Patron of controversial trans charity BeLongTo. @PresidentIRL Belongto actively campaigns on Trans and gender identity legislation, pushes gender ideology into schools acrosss Ireland and campaigns for "gender affirming" heatlhcare. Catherine Connolly ran her presidential campaign promising to be a "President for All". That's looking extremely unlikely now.

Congrats Madame Connolly on coming out - as a trans activist NGO's patron.

Catherine Connolly, the President of Ireland, has shockingly endorsed a radical trans activist group called "belong to." This group has been accused of grooming and indoctrinating vulnerable children with what some consider dangerous gender beliefs. Critics argue that this undermines biological reality, weakens parental authority, and puts confused minors at risk of life-altering medical procedures in the name of a controversial woke ideology. #Ireland

We are extremely disturbed by the news that President Catherine Connolly has been named as a patron of Irish NGO Belong To - an organisation that receives huge tax funding, and has been instrumental in the push for mixed-sex bathrooms in Irish schools, curriculums that teach gender ideology as fact and ask students to sign pledge packs to subscribe to preferred pronoun usage, teaching teachers to hide and lie to parents about their children’s sexuality or gender identity, etc. This organisation was once set up as a gay youth group, but as many of our members and founders experienced, it was not a place for LGB youth to find friends or find community, but rather an youth group that taught young and vulnerable lesbians or bisexual girls how to hide breast binders from parents, silenced questions, encouraged disparaging speak about “c1s” people and created a culture of secrecy and fear. We met with the Children’s Ombudsman to raise our concerns as lesbians, gays and bisexuals who had direct and indirect experience of Belong To, and these concerns were never investigated. It is wholly inappropriate for @PresidentIRL to actively endorse such a controversial NGO, that has and continues to actively harm lesbian, gay and bisexual youth, particularly while she is the president.

Incredibly disappointing to see this. It is galactically inappropriate for the President of Ireland to act as a patron to Belong To, a very well funded lobby group for the medicalisation of children’s identities. We know these procedures cause harm. Children can’t consent to the loss of sexual functioning and infertility because they don’t understand the consequences of this. Removing GMO style labels from NGT-1 gene-edited food is a disgrace.
