I feel like many people are holding onto the idea of "going back to normal". This is the new normal; there is no going back to the previous reality. It's not solely Trump or Putin or whomever. Old institutions are failing, the global economy is entering a drawn-out negative period, and there are more wars and greater instability. A new world is in the making. We should be focused on its contours, not wishing for the return of the old.
