It appears as if we are crossing a North-West-South flux rope - that means the north-south component of the CME's magnetic field (Bz) will further decrease and chances for aurora will increase more and more in the coming hours.

Field strength is around 11 nT now--the CME (likely associated with the anticipated M2.79 flare) is intensifying a bit! The Bz remains positive, but with a -Bz, views of the aurora could intensify at high latitudes.

@mollywidstrom I got case designed to fit in overhead for this very reason. However, he used Calton brand "flight case" designed to be safely checked. $1500(!) for case alone bc crush resistant to 1100lbs & 9ft drop rating. Industry standard. I guarantee handlers ran it over w baggage vehicle

i'm going to do a little victim blaming here and say that he shouldn't have checked it. if it's that special and important he should have taken it in the cabin. there are ways to do that; it happens constantly.

🚨 UNITED DESTROYED THIS MAN’S 1962 GIBSON GUITAR — THEN SAID “NOT COVERED” AND WALKED AWAY He picks his case up from baggage claim and opens it. His 1962 Gibson J-45, a vintage guitar worth thousands, is completely wrecked. Cracked body. Scraped finish. The kind of damage you only get from being thrown around. He says it was inside a “nearly indestructible” top of the line Calton hardshell case. So he calls United. Their response? “We don’t cover instruments.” No compensation. No accountability. Nothing. Now this video is blowing up again as new clips show baggage handlers literally throwing guitar cases. So this isn’t a one-off. It’s the same damage and the same excuse. If they can just say “not covered”… what’s actually stopping this from happening every day? If this was YOUR guitar… what would you do?

Subjects, subjects, subjects. You don’t ALWAYS need a subject, but subjects/proper comp can make any crappy storm look good. Good storms can look crappy without a subject.

Video of an insane substorm last night high in the southern sky seen from Paxson, Alaska. This was filmed by Levi on his tour--a bit shaky, but these substorms can ramp up from 0-100 in a matter of seconds!

@historyrock_ Nowhere near best Prince live solo. For real. If the Prince estate would allow the literally 1000s of live performances he has archived to be released, that would be proven almost instantly. I saw him live 8 times. He went way harder than this on his own songs. It was real magic
