👀More data to suggest that breast surgery may be considered 🤔 in selected patients!?! Excited 🤩 for more prospective data in these populations with limited #metastaticbreastcancer ! Not all stage IV is the same, need to tailor recs accordingly! 🤝 @DukeSurgOnc @DukeCancer

Among patients with single-site de novo metastatic #BreastCancer, breast primary resection with or without locally ablative therapy was associated with improved overall survival, while ablative therapy at the metastatic site alone was not. ja.ma/4aGvV38

Tamoxifen in the absence of definitive surgery for low risk DCIS was associated with an unacceptably high risk of invasive breast cancer 10% at 5 years exceeding planned limit of risk. Bottom line: DCIS still warrants surgery @SABCSSanAntonio #SABCS25

CONDOLANCES to my colleagues and the patients in the Edmonton Area. They seem to be breaking overcrowding records everyday in Edmonton. Last night the RAH ED had over 100 (ONE HUNDRED!) pts waiting in its waiting room. Just try to imagine that... 1/6

The first new adjuvant endocrine treatment to improve outcomes for breast cancer in decades. Tucatinib improving outcomes in the first line HER2+ setting. First phase 3 data with SG in chemo-naive pts with HR+ MBC. And so much more. See you in a few days in San Antonio! #SABCS25

Thanks @ElleCanada for covering this. Breast cancer is increasing in younger women. All women in Canada will soon be able to self refer starting in their 40s, ideally starting at 40. A new lump in a woman of any age should be investigated. ellecanada.com/beauty/health-…

This is why all women in 🇨🇦 deserve screening mammograms starting at age 40, and up to at least age 80. Women with dense breasts need supplemental screening with MRI, US or CEM so their cancers can also be detected early, saving lives, and providing better quality of life.
Jean Seely, MD@JeanSeely

MOD predicts outcome of breast cancer: symptom vs screen detection had 63% higher mortality at 6.7 years, 6.6x>advanced stage, 2.2x> mastectomies and 2x> chemotherapy. 40-49 and 75+years were >70% symptom detected- we must offer them screening pubs.rsna.org/doi/pdf/10.114… @CanadaSBI
