I loved teaching this course with @LHlusko as a GSI back in 2013. She taught me so much about teaching, and she and her course was a huge source of inspiration for the human evolutionary genomics class I now teach. Very excited more ppl will have access to these engaging lessons!

Question for biology profs out there - when should students start looking for research tech positions for post-graduation plans? I thought this would more often be in the mid/late spring, planning for a fall start date, but I wanted to double check.

The grant to turn Photogrammar.org into a tool for image collections has been funded! It was the idea over 10 years ago when we started but the technology wasn’t there. So excited to make it happen now with such a great group!

The review looks at the dispersal of humans in Asia and then pivots to how ancient DNA has helped us understand human genetic history in different regions of Asia. I also spent some time trying to define how I use 'ancestry' and 'lineage'. Anyways, glad it's finally out!

I wrote a review paper last year on human genetic history in Asia, and it was published a couple of days ago. Already a bit out dated with all the cool finds in the last couple of months, but hopefully still an interesting read! doi.org/10.47248/hpgg2…

It was an invited review in honor of Cavalli-Sforza's 100th birthday last year. I never knew him, but I enjoyed the opportunity to do a bit of research on him and the early days of studying human population genetic history.

@myanglab Some times student apply to multiple programs in the same school, and i couldn’t figure out on any given website url which program it belongs… so personalized letter wouldn’t work in this case too…

Question! Do you customize rec letters per school/job for one student? I always do this, adding the name of program and adjusting a bit based on program field, but as i make new individualized PDFs to upload, I'm starting to think this is not worth the time it takes...
