I go on Facebook once a year to check who still wishes me happy birthday. A few years ago I read a fascinating book on the Congolese Civil War, started looking up militia commanders who’d been interviewed, realised they all had Facebook accounts and started sending them friend requests so for a couple of years now I’ve received more happy birthday wishes from Congolese warlords than university friends.

@thomasknox The genocide museum is a tough place to visit, but gives a sense of why Rwandan people are the way they are. Don't plan on leaving happy.

@maxtempers What a relief that notorious harassment account @ThePIPDevil has been suspended for the safety of the most vulnerable of all amongst us. Three cheers for safety!

@johndotwills Yeah hang on a sec here. You'll need some elaboration. Transferring an asset - call it £250k on average - in exchange for paying 10 years of rental payments to an individual is a huge bung. Is the rent ~£27k a year? What does this do to pressure for these properties?

And that is what nobody has tried in 25 years of missed housing targets: It gives RSLs a reason to build that isn't a government grant. Asset transfer after 10 years of good tenancy means every transfer creates an existential choice for the landlord: build to replace or watch their balance sheet shrink. None of this is a target, but it is that missing incentive that has been holding progress towards targets back. It's also key to mobility and wealth for those in the homes. (12/12)

YIMBY's are getting it at least as wrong as the NIMBY's when it comes to housing. Planning reform is not the answer, and the current system of incentives is preventing a lot of really good ideas and efforts from having any real impact on a problem that impacts every single prson in the UK. But how to fix? (1/12)

@SO3_Clausewitz When you pick up a bottle, ask yourself if you could imagine drinking this whole sat in your pants at home, curtains drawn during the day. Does this bottle fit the scenario? How about in the toilets at work? Or in your car on a wet Monday morning before work, sat in the carpark.

@thinkdefence More Type 31s (like, eight more). Money for RFA. More auxiliaries. 31s can be built here, RFA is necessary to sustain RN, auxiliaries give sustainment for the sharp end. Figure out what else to do with a spare billion but that'll get soaked up along the way

@Lovepuff2000 @rosie_eats @lindapeter41408 Wild. Woman says she wants enough of a sense of security to start a family. Somehow you think this is unrealistic. What is unrealistic is a system that gates productive human beings from having families and raising more productive little humans.

Lol, that's interesting since he was VERY excited to work with me and claimed to be a big fan when it benefitted him. Now that he's trying to break into TV, suddenly he's filled with "regret". Good luck sucking all that Hollywood dick, buddy. Hope it's worth it.

Matt Dinniman, author of Dungeon Crawler Carl, has choice words for The Critical Drinker: "I regret that my books have any association whatsoever with him. I hope one day to have his part in book three removed all together. It's a distraction, and the only edgelord douchebag I want people to think of when they read my books is the AI itself." Why did he feel the need to do this?

@thinkdefence Contrarian, I know, but the golden age of direct fire weapons like this is in the past. If you can mission kill a tank with a drone from 10 miles away for a 10th the cost and a 10th the risk, who needs NLAWs?

Here is the video version of this tweet in case you need to get mad at something else Please understand that you should really not be listening to anyone who has never picked up a wrench about fixing your plumbing. Sorry @philiplord and @chrizmillr I cannot, in good conscious, support #projecthailmary after Andy Weir went on a stream with noted chud Critical Drinker. For years this man has tried to destroy everything that you guys stand for, and to give him a pass like that is a bridge too far.

Because of how retarded our procurement people are. The first 2 T-31s will have 12 CAMM cells and then be modified with 32 MK41 later during capability insertion. Ships 3-5 will have 32 MK41 from build.
