Fire McDaniel. Fire Weaver. Hire a real leader of men. Hire a real OC. Find a GM who has hit in drafts. Start over. #PhinsUp

@rhancoug17 How many followers did BYU gain? How much media attention did they receive because of AJ? How many future 4-5 stars will go to BYU now? I think the ROI is pretty decent. Their basement reporters are worse than their fans.

@n8rix @TheHerd @jasonrmcintyre BYU's share was around $3.5-4M and worth every penny. He also has endorsements with Nike & Red Bull. He & his father have all said numerous times $7M is way too high and he DID NOT come to BYU for the money. He said it again in the post game presser.

"For $7M they got one game in the NCAA Tournament and it's over... Did they get the value that they spent on Dybantsa?" @jasonrmcintyre wonders if potential #1 overall pick AJ Dybantsa was worth the price after BYU's early exit

@andyblarsen It was just north of $4M with Nike, Red Bull, etc. Funded the rest of his NIL.

The $7 million isn’t direct, but even if it were… It still seems like a bargain? Like Ryan Smith currently has Lonzo Ball’s $10 million contract on the Jazz’s books despite Ball never playing for the Jazz and indeed being currently out of the entire league

BYU paid $7 million to AJ Dybantsa. He led the nation in scoring. Cool. They finished 10th in the Big 12 and were a 6-seed in the NCAA Tournament after losing a key guard to injury. They lost to an 11-seed Texas team that finished 10th in the SEC. Is that NIL $ well spent?

@ArtDirectorBYU That was an emotional clause. They should have said any head coaching job. Their emotion clouded their judgment.

It's interesting to me is that Utah went to the trouble of forbidding an in-state head coaching job before Jan. 9, 2028, but nothing else. Fans love to talk about rivals living "rent free" but admins didn't care if he took another job far away. Just as long as it wasn't BYU.

Kyle Whittingham wanted a raise to return for his 22nd season as Utah's head coach. Utah countered with, effectively, a demotion. Documents reveal the future CFB HOF coach's tense exit from Salt Lake City. footballscoop.com/2026/03/20/doc…

So Utes have paid tens of millions of dollars to fire the last 4-5 head basketball coaches. And now we learn they’re paying $13MM more to run off their greatest coach of all time? 🤯
Ross Dellenger@RossDellenger

Documents outline Kyle Whittingham’s final days at Utah, when the school offered him a 1-year deal to remain as coach if he ceded some responsibilities - and then agreed to pay him $13.5M in a separation agreement that, the university contends, he violated yhoo.it/4bDEuuG

@TheWildUte Whoever wrote that deal and didn't include a clause that canceled it if he took another job needs to be fired. $13.5M of tax payer funds wasted.

Utah pushed Whitt out the door and Whitt burned down the house as he left. Whoever wrote that smooth transition agreement should be fired. They left way too much room for Whitt to do what he did on the way out. How they didn't have a clause that nullified the deal if he took another HC job is indefensible.

@RossDellenger Utah is just complaining that Whitt turned down the option to remain as HC for a year but be stripped of HC duties and yet still be potentially fined if he actually acted like a HC even though he was offered a raise to remain as HC.. Utah seems to be the problem here.
