Re: Zero Season 4, Episode 9 - Spoiler Warning HERE WE GO. NONE OTHER THAN THE FAMOUS AURA MONSTER EPISODE. I am sure that's the first thing people want to know about. Let me just say, I LOVED THAT SCENE SO MUCH. IT WAS DIRECTED TO ABSOLUTE PERFECTION. It's not at all like the Tiktoks (and thank god for that), I'll explain later in the summary. First of all, I'm unfortunately going to have to start with some criticism, purely from a novel reader's point of view. I promise the following two points are the only things I am critical about. The rest of the episode is sheer, utter peak. The first thing is, the portion where Subaru sinks under the sand happens during daylight in the anime. This differs from the novel, where it happens under an unfamiliar starry sky. I was not fond of this change, it misses the gut-wrenching feeling conveyed when Subaru realises he was abandoned by his own constellation. The second thing is, there appears to be a mistake (?) in the episode's script, where it makes it look like Subaru was only able to get through three doors, and not a fourth. This seems to be because the novel explains Subaru was able to go through a fourth door in its narration, and the script did not translate that across. So the foreshadowing that Subaru has the Gluttony Factor here is completely missing... Anyways, with that aside. The rest of the episode was fucking incredible. First of all, I LOVE the effect they use to show Rui taking over. I won't spoil it, but man, it's so subtle and genius in direction. And then the build up when he's teleported back to the tower. Wow. Just wow. AND THEN THE AURA MONSTER. Thankfully, the focus is on Subaru's murderous intent, and not the stairs. It flashes back to how he fell to his death, as he climbs the stairs, and thinks of all the people who might be responsible. It's so damn good and captures the essence of the scene perfectly. Both the boarding and direction here was insane. And with the direction ramping up the pace, the moment where Subaru comes across Shaula's butchered body is fucking incredible. The gore is not censored at all, of any of the characters he comes across. It's just so, so, soooo good. I couldn't have asked for a better adaptation here. And then man, Subaru's emotions as he stabs Patrasche and breaks down hit so hard. THEN WOW. WOW. WOOOOW. THE "SEE IF YOU CAN TAKE A GUESS NEXT TIME, HERO" LINE. WOW. I AM UTTERLY STUNNED. GENIUS DIRECTION. WE SEE IT PAN TO REVEAL REM'S FACE BEHIND SUBARU. AND NONE OTHER THAN INORI MINASE, REM'S VOICE ACTRESS, DELIVERS THE LINE AS SUBARU IS DECAPITATED. 10/10. Then, Subaru of course Returns by Death and we get the conversations that follow, where he decides to conceal his amnesia. Including confronting Julius, all the way up till he blacks out after Meili asks him about last night. And my god, was this also so fucking good. The way he comes to in a panic and then sees "Natsuki Subaru was here!" carved into his arm. Just incredible. Once again, insane direction and boarding. And that is where the episode ends. Opening and ending play as normal. Not an extended length episode. Title: Ruins My rating: 8.95/10

Re:Zero cut content fact: The one who pushed subaru down the stairs was actually a lot more obvious in the novel, as he fell he saw the blue hair and look that only an oni could have, this of course implies its the person who has already attempted to kill him before

Mushoku Tensei Redundancy Volume 3 ✅ finally had a chance to binge read this and holy shit man this was fucking amazing i genuinely can't even put it into words on how phenomenal the character development is in this volume, especially for Ars, Aisha and Rudeus Rudeus really is a life-changing character, he really fucking is man, and this volume heavily solidifies the reason why he is my T1 MC definitely my favourite Redundancy Volume + T5 Volumes in the entire series imo (i also loved the extra chapters in this vol lol) 10/10

@rezero_ice All of this being in one episode...... Pacing is gonna be as messed up and to stupidly add anime original scene instead of giving inner monologues to understand Subaru's mindset more or more time on already existing stuff.......

Re: Zero Season 4, Episode 8 - Spoiler Warning WELL, HERE WE GO. WE FINALLY BEGIN VOLUME 23. AND WHAT. A. FUCKING. EPISODE. IT WAS. LIKE, WOW. THE PERFECT WAY TO START WHAT IS ONE OF MY FAVOURITE VOLUMES. The episode starts off by lulling you into a false sense of security, with Subaru excited to have been isekai'd. The first half did the job well of getting Subaru up to speed, as in the novel, conveying each character's emotions including Ram confronting Subaru. That was done extremely well. But man. Then the second half. The second half is so, so, SO GOOD. I don't want to spoil too much, but the direction builds up to the moment where Subaru is killed for the first time by being pushed down the stairs after trying to unlock a cheat ability. Then he Returns by Death, and thinks he's having precognitive dreams, like in the novel. But the subtle shift in atmosphere, omg. The way the episode begins to show Subaru becoming isolated from the rest of the group, especially when he overhears Ram and the others talking behind his back. It's sublime. AND THEN WHEN HE IS PUSHED DOWN THE STAIRS A SECOND TIME. NAH. YOU GUYS ARE SERIOUSLY NOT READY FOR IT. IT WAS BRUTAL. THE EPITOME OF "RUINS". AND THE WAY YOU HEAR NOT JUST THE VOICES OF THOSE HE'D OVERHEARD BUT ALSO RUI'S VOICE SAYING "MEMORIES ARE WHAT SHAPE PEOPLE." 10/10. And then when he Returns by Death, holy shit. It conveys his sheer panic to perfection. It's just a complete rollercoaster, both the scene of Reid fondling his heart with his chopsticks and then the Witch of Envy heart-grabbing him after. I just can't even put it into words, man. And of course we get Subaru thinking about the cups scene too!!!! Insane voice acting. Insane boarding. The episode ends with Subaru attempting to leave the tower, with an extra anime-only scene showing Shaula about to transform, due to the tower rule being broken. Opening plays. No ending. The episode is technically extended by around 20 seconds. Title: WHO ARE YOU My rating: 9.25/10

@wisanyanya @DarkinHusk This sentiment is exactly the reaction of a lot of the novel reader when arc 6 was just at this part, we all know amnesia plot line if it’s not handle well is absolutely rubbish. But there’s a reason why novel reader started to glaze tf out of the arc even when it ends

@LNhistorian I think the episode sucked. It was mostly just nonstop yapping, then suddenly Subaru wakes up in that green room with no memories and they dont explain it. I hate when Re:Zero does stuff like this because it feels confusing just for the sake of it, and it genuinely makes mehateit

@Nass7070_ @Zygett @rezero_ice I remember back then everyone was also dubious with the amnesia plotline during the writing of arc 6. A lot of criticism was slowly silenced when the plotline progressed So if it’s adapted faithfully as the novel, the redemption on that is gonna be glorious.

as a novel reader, I'm kinda disappointed with how uncreative they were adapting the big plot twist. But episode 8 might still surprise me though the way things are going, I doubt Styx Helix is coming back. That said, if they replace it with a good insert song, I'm cool with it
