Disgusting by Brondello.
To use that phrase towards Angel Reese is horrible, and I don’t care about the apology because in the heat of the moment, her true feelings surfaced.
Racism won’t be tolerated and shouldn’t be excused — ever. espn.com/wnba/story/_/i…

@UnderdogWNBA What are the odds that AR apologizes for calling Sandy a clown?
English

I hope Sandy also talks directly to Angel.

@Reese10Angel @SBrondello Trying to play the victim again? Calling everything racist dilutes when real racism exists.

@KinnickNorth23 Can't you just celebrate CC having a great game without putting her teammate down?

@AnnieCostabile First thing is for the league to stop taking FanDuel, BetMGM money and stop promoting them. Not rocket science.

A meeting between WNBPA leadership & commish. Cathy Engelbert is scheduled for Tues. to discuss online harassment.
“The security and the negative effects from sports betting is really hitting home for a lot of people and definitely not what you want."

@AnnieCostabile The use and abuse this young lady has thrown her way is disgusting. It would emotionally break the majority of people. Thank goodness she has a strong support crew.

NBA commissioner Adam Silver said Fever star Caitlin Clark has become a “political football” while discussing the physicality and officiating problems in the WNBA.

@_Breezy_Briii Unfortunately, most isn't even about the game. They are trying to change the W into a reality show faux drama.
English

Well now everyone other than Fever players will like her more.

@KinnickNorth23 Very well written. Just remember there are other players that people feel the same about as you do CC. There is no need to tear down other players to prop CC up.

I'm 48 years old. I have pictures of myself as a baby wearing Iowa Hawkeyes clothes. Being a Hawkeye fan wasn't something I chose—it was part of my life from the very beginning.
Some of my earliest memories are watching Hawkeye football with my grandma every Saturday. When my family was going through hard times and even living out of our car, weekends at Grandma's meant a warm meal, a bed to sleep in, and a Hawkeye game together. After she passed away, I kept her old Hawkeye coffee mug. It still sits proudly in my Hawk garage today.
That's what being a Hawkeye fan has always been to me. It's family. It's home. It's tradition.
People from larger states with multiple pro teams may not fully understand it. Iowa is different. The Hawkeyes belong to all of us. Drive through almost any town in the state and you'll see Tigerhawks on houses, barns, businesses, and vehicles. Win or lose, that pride never really fades.
So when Caitlin Clark chose to stay home and wear Iowa across her chest instead of going to a traditional powerhouse, she instantly became one of us in a way that's hard to explain. Before the rest of the world discovered her, we watched her dominate Iowa high school basketball and dreamed about what she could become in black and gold.
Then she became a global superstar.
Millions of people fell in love with Caitlin because of what she did on the court. We did too. But our connection didn't begin there.
To many fans, she's an incredible player.
To Iowa fans, she's part of our story.
So yes, many of us followed her to the WNBA. We may be new to that league, but we're not new to basketball, and we're certainly not "casual" about her. We've spent years cheering for her, celebrating her, and feeling proud that someone from our little corner of the country could captivate the entire sports world.
Maybe that's why criticism of her can feel so personal to Iowa fans. It isn't because we think she's perfect. It's because, in a way, she represents home.
If you've ever wondered why Iowa fans seem so fiercely loyal to Caitlin Clark, that's why.
It was never just about a basketball player.

It’s time to have a real conversation. How is it ok for a professional, getting paid hundreds of thousands of dollars a year, go on a rant about not starting, and then is “injured” and wont play anymore?
Getting absolutely zero criticism and letting her team down.

Sophie Cunningham knew the spotlight was big and was a way to highlighter her Brand on and off the court. I always thought that would be a way to pull more players to Indiana.
The problem is, that spotlight isn’t for everyone. She even talks about players wanting to leave because the scrutiny is too much.
It’s a double edged sword.
English

@JaimeLardis You can't be serious. Congress has no business poking into the W. Only doing it to further divide and use CC for their own purposes. This is not good for CC and if you think it is, well.....
English

F’it! Caitlin Clark for President!
Today proved that girl can move mountains. Did y’all see what happened? Congress is really trying to step in. Signatures were collected.
This is exactly why I say Cathy Engelbert isn’t business-minded. If the late, great David Stern were running the WNBA, he’d be maximizing every ounce of Caitlin’s star power. He knew how to build around a generational talent.
Remember what the NBA looked like before Michael Jordan? Stern helped turn NBA into a Jordan’s playground to grow the NBA, and the league took off with him. That’s what great leadership does.
