@DrHoenderkamp @Keir_Starmer He tells us all that he has a Mandate for “Change” so he thinks that means he can do ANYTHING he feels like !! This has been heard before - very dangerous !! @Iromg

Labour’s Holiday Tax is a brazen rip-off that will hit hard-working Brits in the pocket. Picture it: mum, dad, two kids, heading off for a simple seaside break. Under Rachel Reeves’ plan, that trip gets hit with a new tax. If she replicates what Labour have already done in other parts of the country, that could be as much as £2 per person, per night. A tax on holidaying in your own country. Hotels, B&Bs, campsites, holiday parks - nothing escapes Reeves. The Holiday Tax, already seen in Wales and Liverpool, will make it more expensive to holiday in Britain. £2 a night may sound small - until you add it up. A family of four staying for a week? That’s an extra £56. Money that could’ve gone on meals out. On ice creams by the sea. On making memories together. The result? People start looking elsewhere. Spain. Greece. Anywhere but Britain. Fewer visitors. Less spending money. A direct hit to local businesses that rely on tourism. This tax doesn’t just affect families - it squeezes seaside towns, threatens jobs, and piles pressure on an industry already under strain. At a time when every penny matters, my message to Rachel Reeves is clear: Hands off our holidays.

A minimum wage of £15 would end my coffee shop, it would have to close, as would many other businesses. I’ll explain for the economically illiterate. Staff costs are currently half our costs, a £15 minimum wage is actually more than £15 an hour for the company, because you have to add: - 12.07% holiday - Sick pay - Maternity pay if and when required - National insurance - Pension contributions These costs would mean the shop loses money because remember, energy costs are up, rates are up, regulations are up. Now you can pass these costs onto the consumer - that would mean charging a lot more for coffee, people won’t pay it. The likes of Starbucks and Costa can, because they have economies of scale. The independent doesn’t. Now the little socialist will say well this is your fault, if you can’t run a business that can afford to pay its staff properly, but the little socialist has never run a business and does not understand the dynamics. Now I could pay some staff off and fill those hours myself or reduce us to one staff member during certain periods - but this proves the point that a minimum wage costs jobs. There was a time when these jobs were done by kids, perhaps on the weekend, paid a lower wage, no holiday and no silly employment rights. Perhaps they were even paid cash. The dynamic worked and small businesses like this could operate. It was also a great first job. Sadly now it isn’t worth employing entitlement youngsters at this level of pay. So alas, I don’t need the stress, the business would close, a number of jobs would be lost. Economics is about understanding these dynamics, no vibes. The cost of living is not solved through passing on inflation to the business, it is solved by ending high inflation and creating prosperity. This is what socialists don’t understand, they can’t create prosperity, they can only destroy it.

The Greens will raise the minimum wage to £15 for all workers 💪

Trouble is the just can’t grasp that the “Costs of doing Business” crisis is inextricably connected to the “Costs of Living” crisis !! Piling on Taxes & other Costs onto businesses all ends up in the Prices people have to pay 💰 Sadly this Govt of @Keir_Starmer , @RachelReevesMP @Ed_Miliband & Cabinet & MP’s in @HouseofCommons just have no clue at all ! The Voters will make this pretty clear on May 7th @piersmorgan @itomg

Starmer’s government is responsible for higher inflation.  They’ve been irresponsible with the public finances by piling on more debt, leaving us exposed to sudden shocks like the Iran war. Labour stand for: ⬆️HIGHER borrowing costs ⬆️HIGHER inflation ⬇️LOWER growth mol.im/a/15784595

I’m sick to death of the right wing press to be honest. I suspect that Keir didn’t even know he had a niece and this wouldn’t have crossed his desk. Why is he getting the blame for selections that he has absolutely no involvement with whatsoever? 🤷🏼‍♂️

🗳️ Sir Keir Starmer’s niece is standing in the local elections in Croydon, one of the safest wards in London. Some disgruntled local Labour activists claim she has been “parachuted into a safe Labour seat” telegraph.co.uk/politics/2026/…

In Parliament @libdemdaisy raised business rate hikes hitting businesses in her constituency and across the country.   The cost of doing business is overwhelming high street businesses leading to closures.   Gov’t must reduce the overall tax burden on hospitality businesses.

3,800 jobs are to go from Premier Inn owner Whitbread, which has decided get rid of its chain of branded restaurants & sell & leaseback £1.5 bn of its hotels, after being hit by higher property taxes. The decisions were taken because of “significant cost increases in the form of business rates & national insurance,” said CEO Dominic Paul. "Compared to other countries around the world, business rate taxes are punitively high, & that affects companies’ ability to invest & grow,” he said. 1/2

Last Friday - I said my jaw nearly hit the floor when Starmer totally misrepresented Ollie Robbins' evidence on Mandelson appointment at PMQs. Will Labour MPs now break cover and refer him for investigation? They should - it was shameful

Keir Starmer on the economic fall out of the Iran war: "People might change their habits, where they go on holiday this year, what they are buying in the supermarket, that sort of thing." A bit rich coming from a self entitled politician who has indulged in over £100,000 in freebies, repeatedly jets off around the world and paid handsomely by the taxpayer while hammering small businesses with tax rises. And he still hasn’t cut fuel duty.

The instinct after a crisis in No10 is always to add more process. But the Mandelson appointment wasn't a failure of process - it was a failure of political judgment. The right response to bad decisions is better decision-making, not process paralysis. thetimes.com/uk/politics/ar…
