two things must happen the same hardfork: set minPoolFees to a substantial value like 5%, set minPoolCost to 0. if this does not happen at the same hf, i will not support it. and as spos are the ones voting to do the hardfork in first place, many are seeing the same way. so will be hard to get a stake majority to vote for a 0/0 change. k can be adjusted in a later step. first make the changes stated above to even the playing field for small up to large pools. @ADAFrog_Pool is right in that way

@rvcas @penberg @ernesto_lan It seems to me that the advancements in LLMs writing code makes many developer tools and language features superfluous. We don't regularly use tools for ASM because compilers handle all that for us (and are better at it). I think dev AI tools may do the same at a higher level.

Zig project moving out of Github is not that dramatic, except for losing sponsoring through the platform (hope they manage to offset that). However, the no-AI policy is extremely interesting take. Seems like a net negative for them in the long term.

gitlab.com/viperscience/d… I know the scavenger mine is basically over but wanted to share the code anyway. Kinda wish I had more time to improve things. I'll probably pull it out and put it in its own libashmaize repository with our other Viper Science projects.

For *fun* I re-wrote the AshMaize hash library in C++ and optimized it. On one system I tested (threaddripper) the performance is comparable to the Rust code. On my other systems (Ryzen 9, Intel Xeon, Intel Ultra 9) I was able to get a 5-10% boost in hashrate over the Rust lib.

@amw7 What system do you have? I have a $10k System76 Thelio Major workstation. Its been good for the 5 months or so I've had it. One of the sound ports didn't work😕. I was considering getting a laptop from them too but wasn't sure....

I will likely not buy a system76 again. Second harddrive slot didn't work and overheated. Sent it in for repairs. It came back with only 1 hard drive. I'm feeling 90% sure they never tested the scenario I told them was causing the overheating failure. Now I'm being ghosted by support for 10 days.

@Seanavocado Yes, I used Yoroi. The only problem is that I have multiple accounts on my Trezor but Yoroi doesn't support multiple accounts. I'm hoping Lace updates to support this so I can use the rest of my wallets!

I claimed my NIGHT token allocation on the Midnight Glacier Drop using my Trezor hardware wallet! The claim site was updated to use 0 ADA transactions for hardware wallets when generic message signing is unsupported. claim.midnight.gd/?landing=0

I finally took the time to write a script to create calendar events for our scheduled blocks. Its so much easier now to see when there are gaps for node maintenance tasks! The script is pretty simple, but if anyone wants help getting one setup let me know.

I got this impression when I tried to talk with them at CNFTcon a couple years back. I have a PhD in antennas and radio-frequency applications. Plus a lot of blockchain experience. I thought they would be an excellent fit for collaboration or even just technical conversation. You could tell immediately that they were not really interested in discussing the actual technology. I think because there isn’t actually any innovation happening. It’s all just about leveraging the “blockchain” buzzwords and capital.

I just implemented my first tx builder in Modern C++ (libcardano). It’s currently only Shelley Era (ADA and certificates etc) but calculates the minimum fee as well. It also handles all the CBOR serialization. Looking forward to building out additional features! Tx builders are actually really fun to work on!

From now on, every time I see a tx builder that is not buildooor I will tweet about buildooor I will do the same with unembedded plu-ts once it is usable Did you know that buildooor always sets the lowest valid fee for you? With or without contracts

This is such a common misconception. I’m not sure why the narrative that Cardano contracts are written in Haskell (Plutus) is still so prevalent when most all major projects are using @aiken_eng. Cardano also has @plu_ts (typescript) and @OpShinDev (Python). There’s plenty of options for non-Haskell devs to write smart contracts. These high-level frameworks all compile to low-level UPLC to be executed on chain, which is not intended to be written by hand.

@IOHK_Charles It’s true. I’m 5’ 9” and I’ve met you a couple times in person and you are in fact taller than me. It’s strange that Google has the wrong height.

Of all the misinformation about me from trashy gossip books to the endless trolls on X, the one thing that bothers me more than anything else is Google saying I'm 5'9''. I'm 6' and there are literally thousands of pictures of me with others for reference. Somehow Google still lies
