ALL-STAR SELECTIONS 1st TEAM DEFENSIVE LINE DE - Theo Greule (Folsom) DT - Manaalii Danielson (St. Marys) DT - Lua Daberry (Folsom) DE - Latu Jeremiah Tuileila (Grant) @TGreule, @FolsomBulldogFB, @Passing_Academy, @BIG_Lu99, @ManaaliiD, @JTuiileila8, @SMRamsFB, @grant_union The youngest member of the vaunted Folsom D-line Lua Daberry has quickly shown that the SFL should be scared the next two years. A starter as a sophomore Lua has 4.5 sacks, 12.5 tackles for loss and 40 tackles as a DT. He also has a passed defense to go along with a forced fumble and fumble recovery. You need to two O-Lineman in most cases to block this guy, the trouble is the same can be said for all of the Folsom defensive line. Duberry is very disruptive and relentless. He is lightning fast off the line and he often times forces the QB out of the pocket or disrupts the timing by getting there before the play has developed. It should be fun to see what this kid does the next two years! Manaalii Danielson has led St. Marys storming into the D2 playoffs. A big reason St. Mary’s was able to hang with DLS for so long was this man absolutely disrupting the veer run game. He is a monster at destroying blocks and lineman. He has a massive 15 tackles for loss to go along with 7 sacks. And 4 hurries. Danielson has 2 fumble recoveries and in a bit of a variety among DT’s he had an interception returned for a TD. He was everything St. Marys needed this year and a big reason they are riding a lot of momentum going into the playoffs. Latu Jeremiah Tuileila was my defensive player of the year last year. Coming off one of the best seasons I had seen for a defensive lineman last year, a lot was expected and he delivered again. The stats themselves are not what they were, but Grant went and compiled a schedule that was the toughest in the area. So it was expected the lofty numbers would come back to earth. After all he had 40 tackles for loss last season 40! That is just unheard of. None the less this high motor guy got all the double teams and still delivered 11 sacks, 17 tackles for loss, and 76 tackles. He is relentless and makes it easy for the linebackers to get up and help by taking on the extra blockers. He has already committed to San Diego State University where I am quite certain he will have much success. But that is after taking Grant back to a state championship where they are eager for redemption after losing in the final moments despite Alexander getting hurt. This brings us to four year starter Theo Greule. One of the very few players to be a four year starter at Folsom. Theo has led this unstoppable D-line all year and making the most of his last year of varsity football. He seems to always be in the QB’s face. For the year he has 9 tackles for loss and 6 sacks along with 2 caused fumbles. I don’t think stats really illustrate how good this line has been. Most rushing numbers that are gained on Folsom happen once the backups are in and it is a running clock. They went through a 3 game stretch where the starters gave up 7 yards on 44 carries. Couple with that the relentless pursuit that all four lineman have on the QB and it is no wonder why they decimated their competition in the SFL this season. Theo is the leader of that squad and just one more fun takeaway was Theo’s first TD in which he picked up a block punt and returned it 33yards. It has been quite the career for Mr. Greule, I know he wants to end it with a win in December.
