@joshuamschultz 30 mysql dbs on digitalocean transferred to a single mysql on hetzner? pretty sure 30 dbs on DO would cost 3x more

Someone just migrated from DigitalOcean to Hetzner. Same production workload. 30 MySQL databases. 248GB of data. Hundreds of thousands of users. Bill went from $1,432/month to $233/month. New machine is MORE powerful. 96 CPUs. 256GB DDR5. NVMe RAID. $14,388 saved per year. This is happening everywhere.

Codex on 5.4 high is producing so much AI slop these last few days, considering going back to coding manually 😅 heard they do the same with claude. what's up with that?

@levelsio @brian_lovin Using dokploy or coolify on $10-$20 VPS on hetzner/ovh/netcup (or even racknerd for the brave ones) is a no brainer and provides excellent low setup/maintenance self hosted PaaS

I get 4,150,000,000 (4 billion) requests and 300,000,000 (300 million) visitors per year That'd cost me $338,913 if I wasn't on a VPS like @brian_lovin below Instead I pay $2,932/year or 115x less because I host my sites on my own VPS My VPS servers are way too big and usually only use 10% of their resources so I could even go with $300/year probably if I optimized more (but I don't care) Especially with AI these days it's easier than ever to host your sites yourself, and way cheaper! 100-1000x cheaper!

The fact that 100,000s requests cost you $20 is more worrrying than Tencent scraping

rolled keys for my database and ran into infra error on @supabase :) sadly @postbridge_ is down for time being until i can get unblocked by supa, login is down. heavily considering hosting myself from here on out, i think initial setup is worth the peace of mind

@peshrus @levelsio @brian_lovin go with hetnzer, netcup or ovh use AI to get instructions don't use "cost optimized", too much cpu/ram steal so either dedicated or "regular performance" ask AI for instructions on how to setup

I know, it's 2025, seems absurd it's not that easy to do. But 3 months in and we're doing pretty good. What I'm saying - if you're overwhelmed with AI and the ideas that come with it, give yourself a break for a while and go back to basics. It's about the simple things.

Sometimes there's business in the simple things, no need for AI or complicated workflows. CallTuv is a simple business and idea, just help people call abroad, to their bank, hotel, airline or a loved one who doesn't have whatsapp or telegram (yes, they live among us).

@petergyang Hermes is not memory hungry Has browsing built-in (openclaw wants extensions, installations, etc) Was super easy to get it up and running on a cheap VPS connected to a free model like Qwen3.6 with OpenRouter

@codyschneider Do you really need them though? Fire up claude/codex, tell it to create a sequence based on events this and that, run it on a schedule scanning all users every hour and checking email to send to who Use an Email API behind the scenes like resend/sendgrid/ses

Can't the Codex team at @OpenAI make the desktop sessions available from a mobile app? I'd love to be able to keep on working while on the go.

Your SSL certificate expired 3 hours ago. You didn't get the renewal email. The person who set it up quit 8 months ago. No one knows where it was purchased. 500 enterprise clients are getting security warnings. Where do you even start?

Open claw is still overrated. Here's my hot take: Everyone asks around how do you use it - why? Cause no one has a use case they find invaluable besides making dashboards or trying to arbitrage Polymarket. Maintenance - I spend 80% of my time just keeping it online, remembering or fixing things. It forgets time and time again. Also sucks up all computer resources regularly. All the posts about SEO optimization, how they have 15 AI employees, etc. Are from people not making money. Token costs > Executive Assistant cost ($50 / hour). Turns out using better models and running tasks around the clock costs money. And trying to debug or explain things takes way longer than sending to my assistant (for now). It hurt my X account. When I had it run my X and then check my X for stats - I got throttled since it looks like a bot (cause it IS a bot!) - didnt realize it for a week. Every-single-person who's bragging about OpenClaw is mostly lying. When you ask them how it's really going it isn't as they seem. Is it awesome and hugely potential, yes. Still someways to go...
