Thinking that humanities are not worthwhile is ridiculous to me. We are the most narcissistic species on the planet. For thousands of years we've done nothing but talk about ourselves, sing about ourselves, paint ourselves, sculpt ourselves, and write about ourselves, we've >

@Matias_Bosques @Milo_Edwards There were no indigenous people on the Falklands you incontinent cabbage. The only people the British competed with for the islands were other European colonisers

@Milo_Edwards If you're going to write a bit for your shitty stand-up, how about you actually look into what you're talking about? "Killed zero people?" How plausible do you even think that is, coming from the country most well-known for stealing others' land and culture? Fuck right off.

@policylaila Tube staff are also Londoners you wet serviette. Imagine not wanting to pay key members of your constituency properly. Imagine wanting to cut out key jobs in London for Londoners. Shameful suggestion.

This are not just grifters. These are leaders in a fascist movement that is using archaeology not just to make money, but entertain those on the right and feed into their white supremacist ideology. We have to keep a focus on that

consume, stay focused on the fascist agenda, and fuel its momentum through engagement. They just pick archaeology because it already has story telling built into it, which they adapt to their agenda, and includes some element of mystery and investigation to attract folks >

It might be helpful to see this from a different perspective. How to create a marketing hook to attract right wingers to my white supremacists propaganda: Step one: everyone else is doing vaccinations and palaeodiets, pick archaeology instead- it's sexy and mysterious
Gnostic Informant | Neal Sendlak@Gnosisinformant

How to make a career grifting: Step One: have no fucking clue about a subject in ancient history. Don’t read any journals or literature. Don’t go to school. Step two: go as a tourist to these ancient sites and film ancient wonders of the world that everyone knows are truly remarkable. Step Three: act super surprised that you have no fucking clue how these places were built, because you have no education on the subject and truly don’t. “hOw DiD tHeY dO iT?” Step Four: Declare that all the experts (that you haven’t bothered reading) also don’t know how these sites were built or when they were built and tell the audience that they “are hiding things” to “keep a narrative” for some reason, despite that “narrative” constantly changing over the centuries. Step Four: Offer the most outlandish possible answers for these structures straight from the depths of your assholes with 0 evidence at all. Like: “it was a power plant” or “the orbs levitated the blocks and used lasers” or maybe, “aliens”. Step Five: let the money, ad revenue, sponsors and podcast invites pile up! You did it! You have made money and a career of misinforming the public and causing mass hysteria!

So if it wasn't for (checks notes)... windmills, pride flags and Muslims, we'd all still be living in ye olde England, skipping through fields, and buying our crust from the local baker. What an absolute bag of bollocks. Who on earth is consuming this shite?

Bean Soup Theory is perhaps the most relevant sociological analysis of the 2020s and I’m not joking

@suchnerve Bean soup theory is obviously true but the actual winner is everyone is 12 because it’s *more* true.

@CeraGibson Sorry this is too generous a take. It's not that he's wrong that those art forms struggle for funding, it's the obvious disdain he showed for the people who are still putting their energy into those art forms and their audience. That's why he's upset people

I actually don’t understand why people are furious at Timothée Chalamet. He has a point, even if he wasn’t eloquent. He's concerned about the future of film if people stop going to the theater. He doesn’t want to work in an industry that is considered antiquated. I love Opera AND ballet, but I’m constantly seeing my local companies looking for funding. The fact is that in the broader culture, people don’t value Opera and Ballet as they once did. “No one cares about it” isn’t accurate, but I also don’t think he meant it how it’s being taken.

@THISisLULE So if I have it right SA doesn't have a Good Samaritan law like some other countries, but you don't get in trouble if you provide reasonable help, only if the aid is deemed to be reckless. But theres lots online how if you have training (i.e. a nurse) you have a duty to act

@WyandotteWitch @heyyguido Genuine question here, do you think you're going to get more or less rides when you enable the feature? I would guess you would probably get less which means longer wait times and less money unless females are charged more to pay for a premium to the driver for the feature.

I beg uber to make a button for men to request a male only driver option and then 6 months later publish how many of them actually used it after this big outcry to prove the biggest point ever.

@roisinmurphy @EamonnYoung1 @McGoohanAgain @MootIreland Are you taking the piss? We can all literally see that he wrote he'd burn the Irish flag. Are you not capable of following the thread and reading that for yourself or do you think you're being some kind of clever by denying what we can all read?
