During the December 2024 floods, we created a flood map for the #Thamiraparani Basin, which includes parts of #Tirunelveli and #Thoothukudi districts. Although we couldn’t provide forecasts at that time due to being out of town, we are now working on a detailed analysis of the event. The insights gained will be valuable in improving future preparedness and response strategies. Next season, we will try to flood forecasts and timely warnings to enhance safety and ensure better preparedness for all. HPCL signs four impactful MOUs during IEW - 2024 ......exiting strides towards achieving greener future contributing to bigger cause of achieving Net Zero target for the nation. 1. HPCL has entered into an MOU with M/s StepOne Tech Limited, a Finland based company, envisioning the retrofitting of old vehicles with a eflexFuel Kits for compatibility with up to 85% ethanol-blended petrol. 2. HPCL signed MoU with Defence Institute of Bio-Energy Research (DIBER) for collaborative research activities for production of Sustainable Aviation Fuel from Camelina Sativa. The goal is to achieve a 75% reduction in carbon emissions compared to standard ATF. 3. HPCL partners with M/s KOKO Networks to explore ethanol cooking technology in India. KOKO, with its world's largest ethanol cook stove factory in Gujarat, manufactures stoves running on bioethanol fuel. 4. HMEL signed MoU with HPCL to market MS & HSD for retail and bulk marketing, with a focus on setting up retail outlets. #IEW2024 #IEW

The recent rescue of trapped 41 workers in Silkyara Bend-Barkot Tunnel is a magnificent example of stupendous team efforts & strong leadership. Under the knowledgeable guidance of Australian tunnelling expert Arnold Dix, who is also the President of International Tunnelling and Underground Space Association, rat- hole miners broke through the last obstacles through debris when machines failed to reach the workers. Chennai is facing major floods, the third such occurring in the last eight years. We are witnessing more instances of metropolitan cities receiving excessive rainfall, leading to sudden flooding. Guided by a pro-active approach, PM @narendramodi Ji has approved the first urban flood mitigation project of Rs. 561.29 crore for ‘Integrated Urban Flood Management activities for Chennai Basin Project’ under the National Disaster Mitigation Fund (NDMF), which also includes Central assistance of Rs. 500 crore. This mitigation project will help make Chennai flood-resilient. This is the first in a series of urban flood mitigation efforts and will help develop a broader framework for urban flood management.
