I just learned you can take a train from Detroit to San Francisco-and it's only 61 hours. 😂 Apparently I've been using trains wrong my whole life. I thought they were just for blocking crossings while I sat there counting boxcars. Turns out, you can actually get on one and go clear across the country. That's not a trip-that's a commitment. By Nebraska, you're on a first-name basis with the conductor and questioning your snack choices. By the time you hit San Francisco, you're not even excited about the view-you're just proud you didn't get unloaded with the freight.

At this point, some people fear visa renewal more than the original visa interview. Imagine leaving the U.S. thinking you're coming back in 2 weeks. Then boom "Unfortunately, your visa has been refused." 😭

Three students—two Master's students and one PhD student—returned home to renew their U.S. F-1 visas. Only one was approved. The other two were denied. At this point, traveling home while on a student or work visa in the U.S. is becoming a very tough decision. The risk of not being able to return is real.
