@LeeHurstComic @Nathan8hpp How’s has that worked out since Gideon Osbourne reduced the higher rate of income tax from 50p to 45p in 2012 ? You know the change that gave £42k more a year to anyone earning £1m+ annually, whilst closing libraries & police stations.

@Nathan8hpp No doubt, but they’ll spend it and drive the economy which creates jobs.

IDEA How about we set a legal, simplified tax rate. 15% for everyone on all their income. No personal allowance. Just a flat rate of 15%. Then… The government can only spend that much. No more. It has to live within its means. How about that? Maybe we can the. pay off the debt and then cut the 15% rate further. Sounds like a plan to ne.

Official at last, English rugby's Premiership has pulled up the drawbridge and left every ambitious club beyond the the elite with nowhere to go. Relegation-promotion sacrificed for the cosy comfort of a closed shop. A shocking decision.

@neilfissler All sport needs more matches that mean more. I’m not sure a 12-14 team PREM creates that any more than scrapping relegation does.

Mixed feelings about scrapping relegation and promotion from the PREM. Now little incentive for clubs at the bottom to improve but clubs aren’t exactly queuing up to leave the Championship. One thing is for sure ten PREM isn’t the answer needs 12-14.

It has been completely neglected. Laughably so. It’s grotesque when you look at those numbers. Why not give the ten prem clubs £32m and chuck £10m a year the champs way? You might have one or two queueing up. How has this happened? Seriously, look at those numbers and tell me

The ten teams in the Prem receive £33m per season each from the RFU. An increase from £28m a year in their last deal. The Champ clubs receive had their RFU funding cut from £650,000 a year to around £160,000 in 2021 and it’s stayed the same ever since.

I wonder if this will prove to be the transformative change it’s hoped for.

Every sport needs matches that mean more. It’s the excitement which brings fans to grounds and viewers to screens and creates the wealth. Having no promotion ( however unlikely that was ) to aim for and no relegation to fight against does not create matches that mean more.

The official announcement to abandon promotion & relegation at the top of club rugby marks an inevitable end of a process that started 25 years ago. At that time the top two tiers of  24 clubs in Allied Dunbar 1 & 2(?) with shared central sponsorship & commercial revenue 🧵

Imagine being the Man Utd sponsorship team, looking to secure global partnerships with this clown at the pinnacle of the club. I imagine Ratcliffe will be issuing an apology soon.
