Following the reported arbitrary arrest of Hon. @JustineNameere, a member of the ruling party @NRMOnline, we must all agree on one fundamental principle, that arrests and detentions must be conducted humanely at all times. In cases involving women, additional sensitivity and respect for their dignity must be observed. Political affiliation should never determine how a person is treated. Alongside his twin brother and other comrades, we visited our brother Alex Waiswa Mufumbiro at Luzira Upper Prison this morning, following the death of his wife to try and comfort him in this very sad situation. He is devastated by the news, which he first learnt from fellow prisoners who heard it on radio. His greatest regret is that he was not able to be by her side as she breathed her last. He hopes against hope that he can be released on bail so that he lays her to rest. What hurts him more is that on the day the regime claims he took part in "unlawful drilling," he was at Uganda Cancer Institute, desperately trying to get medical attention for his wife. The price of freedom! Let's all keep him in our prayers.

The Kampala Capital City Authority should remove the container owned by the Uganda Revenue Authority, as the tax authority has the capacity to rent space in any of the nearby buildings. You cannot sweep a compound and heap the rubbish in the middle of it. All other structures were removed, and vendors were directed to relocate to gazetted markets. URA can also relocate to any gazetted market of their choice if they cannot afford the rent.
