Because nearly every state awards all of its electoral votes to the statewide winner, a candidate could theoretically become president by winning the red states by the narrowest possible margin, 50.1% to 49.9%, while losing every blue state overwhelmingly. Under those assumptions, the candidate would win the required 270 electoral votes despite receiving only about 22% of the nationwide popular vote. It is an extreme mathematical scenario rather than a realistic election outcome, but it demonstrates how the Electoral College can produce a winner without a majority, or even a large plurality, of the national popular vote. #drthehistories

This map re-imagines the states of the #USA. Each state is now home to approximately the same number of people and is of similar size. States are also largely named in a more culturally sensitive way. You'll find me in Bayou or Yosemite.
