@nerrad It might be true that all males exist on the "is a tool/has a tool" continuum.

The weird male dance where it’s insulting to assume a 20-year-old owns a specific tool but it’s also insulting to assume a 50-year-old *doesn’t*. But everywhere between it’s fraught and you have to broach the subject delicately.

This can literally transform your interactions in a way that not only gets you to a place where you are using agents effectively, but also growing in your knowledge and understanding as well. Every subsequent session makes you a little bit smarter, and a little bit more effective

Don't know how to configure MCP or add a skill? The agent can do it for you, but also ask it to explain how it is doing it so you pick up a little knowledge along the way.

Non devs struggling with using AI tools (Claude Code, Codex, Cowork etc) to build things. Dont' just view agents as things that do things for you. Also embrace the mindset that they are incredible expert TEACHERS to expand your knowledge.

@KatieKeithBarn2 @DuaneStorey @jamesckemp Switch to treating the agent not just as a "doer" but also a "teacher". When you're not sure how to do something, ask the agent to teach you. The insights can help inform your next interaction with the agent.

@DuaneStorey @jamesckemp Yeah I spent a few days fighting with Claude Code to write a custom Help Scout widget and it turned out to have security issues.

I feel like I’m living in a parallel universe where my developer friends are doing amazing things with AI, but whenever I try to use it for anything beyond chat, it can’t even manage the basics. I think this highlights the growing gap between the superpowers that AI is unlocking for developers 🦸 vs. mere mortals 🙇 Or maybe I’m the only person incapable of vibe coding a secure, well-architected app or setting up the WooCommerce MCP (which developers say is easy but involves terrifying things like running an MCP server from the command line). Most developers don’t realize how much of what they’re doing with AI is powered by their own expertise. AI isn’t replacing them - it’s amplifying skills the rest of us don’t have. Their jobs are safer than they think.

In particular, it's really useful for AI agentic development across workspaces because it saves on disk space and executes faster. Still a few things to improve in `wp-env` but this is great @riadbenguella , thanks!

This is really cool, and feels like a natural evolution for `wp-env`. The folks working on Playground have been killing it with the improvements over the past year and I see it eventually becoming the defacto way to develop for WordPress.
Riad Benguella@riadbenguella

One command. Zero Docker. Full WordPress. npx @wordpress/env start --runtime=playground ⚡️wp-env now supports WordPress Playground as an experimental runtime. Spin up a local WordPress environment in seconds, no containers required.

Testing plugin updates on a live site is always a bit nerve-wracking. So I took advantage of the extra Claude tokens over Christmas to build something! A @WordPress plugin that adds "Preview Update" links to your plugins list. Click one and it spins up Playground right there in your admin, with all your plugins zipped up (including any local modifications). For @WooCommerce sites, it copies your products across too. Images proxy from your live site so you're not waiting around for media imports. Still rough, takes about a minute with lots of plugins, but the attached demo shows it working. Would you find this useful? Worth me continuing?

I made myself an RSS reader inside of WordPress because there's not enough of these and I'm tired of Feedly. It uses the DataViews (pros and cons there) and it needs some UI work, but I love the idea of self-hosting my RSS reader.
