Suggested line. Horses can’t go out and turn in tight and hit the apex like in motor racing at this juncture in a race as if someone appeared on your inside you would have allow them space. They would then carry you wide after the bend.

No wonder the bend before 2 out on the Chase course was riding tight, virtually a 90 degree turn. Surely the rails should cut the corner more to allow a much smoother turn?

And now I’m here at a lovely little pub in Mayfair. Just witnessed a classic interaction. The guy on the left asked the beautifully dressed English guy who just arrived for a drink, if he worked at a restaurant down the road. The perfectly dressed guy was totally speechless and the barman who knew him, explained that no he didn’t work in a restaurant. He did mention what he did and it was rather more lucrative. Was just a classic of putting your foot in it and accidentally insulting someone. Loved witnessing that.

I watch the early-morning build up and then watch the racing either live or on catch up (or mixture of both) depending on the weather for walking.

Remember Johnny Setaside at Leopardstown in 1996? That was the big 3m chase at Christmas, not 3m2f. A very sad and regrettable situation but no need for knee jerk reactions.
