I accept playing a European Cup knockout game on a Wednesday night & then a 1230 away on Saturday is suboptimal. But this isn’t a performance about exhaustion. Yet again it’s the same mistakes, disorganisation, not tracking runners & a cultural malaise that’s haunting this team.

Re-read Jon Krakauer’s Into Thin Air over Christmas. It remains an astonishing piece of work. Not sure there’s another book that gives you the sense of being right there in the moment than this.

@SiClancy He's still a very good manager and probably will be elsewhere. I just think since winning the league the transfer decisions and awful events has created a lethargy in the play that only a reset now will shift. The players look like they're always playing under pressure.

And I don’t think Hughes & Edwards are blameless either. The lack of a plan with the new players, the inability to see where the pieces would fit, & the sale of Diaz - should never have happened. This team is staggeringly poor, they don’t look fit & blaming Salah was foolhardy.
