@MattSmethurst Stop trying to euphemize this. It all comes down to another form of slavery;
Shut the fk up you piece of shit, don’t complain, do as I say, or I’ll torture you if you don’t.
Six ingredients of true repentance:
1. Sight of sin
2. Sorrow for sin
3. Confession of sin
4. Shame for sin
5. Hatred of sin
6. Turning from sin
— Thomas Watson (1620–1686)
@StephMac4Jesus@elderservant1@sola_chad To be clear, the sexual sin I’m referring to is homosexuality. Homosexual orientation was not a concept back then. The sexual assault of the angels was about domination and shame, thus inhospitality—not about sexual orientation. And sex in general was about domination too.
@elderservant1@sola_chad "systemic societal oppression" was not the big problem. It was sin - their OWN sin, esp rampant sexual sin that really ushered in the total depravity. ( gross, ungodly sin within the hearts of the men who were "gone").
@SpeedWatkins@Tsar_Martyr Religious brainrot is what leads these people to question if good actually means good without some fictitious “transcendent” deity 😂
@Tsar_Martyr Because science, or a naturalistic method, gave us a better understanding of our world. Ancient Semitic people taught the sound of thunder was the voice of YHWH. Now we know it comes from the rapid expansion and contraction of air caused by lightning.
Atheists have utterly failed to refute the design argument.
Never even come close.
You can't say, "We know something is designed because we know humans design things."
That doesn't explain the attributes of the system that separates design from non-design.
It's begging the question & circular.
By that logic, we could never recognize designed things on alien planets, or even designed things dug up in the dirt of our own planet, unless we had already observed what designed those things.
We recognize designed things by the attributes of the system: specified complexity, irreducible complexity, interdependent coordination, etc.
We know systems with these attributes are designed because only intelligence is capable of planning & engineering parts into a purposeful, functional system with these attributes - based on our universal and uniform experience.
Nature has never once been observed to be capable of this miraculous feat of engineering.
You can't retort with, "BuT rEpRoDuCtIoN!" because reproduction requires the very attributes needing to be explained.
This is question-begging again.
Reproductive systems require a whole host of biological machinery engineered into a vast complex interdependent system - no evidence suggests any complex biological system can arise without intelligent guidance.
Observation shows us that Nature destroys biological material - it doesn't build entire networks of complex interconnected systems.
If you say, "It started out simple and grew more complex!" then you're holding a belief contrary to all the evidence.
You can believe that if you want, but don't call it science.
Reproducing biological molecules inherently require vast complexity.
The systems in Life show ALL the attributes of designed things.
Because Life was Divinely Designed.
The level of hatred coming from the atheists on this thread is extremely revealing. They make argument by assertion and respond to a strawman version of the intelligent design argument. Then they wish evil upon you and spew hatred. I suppose it’s a cope. It’s what you do when you’ve lost the argument and can’t admit it.
@ThatOther_Dude@whiteraven271@Tsar_Martyr My response to him: Morality exists because they originate from a deep intuition and sense of empathy and conscientiousness. Rules are therefore set to maintain care and safety of others. It is not intrinsic, like how the Christian claims it is. Plus god is immoral anyways.
@ThatOther_Dude@whiteraven271@Tsar_Martyr He literally just blocked me 🤣 I was about to explain to him why morality exists and he doesn’t want to receive a thoughtful response.
@whiteraven271@Tsar_Martyr Feelings and emotions are not just trivial things. They’re what make experience profound things, like the death of a loved one or separation of family. It is the reservoir for what we call a soul. Even in your fantasy world, hell is bad because it’s inflicts pain and suffering.
@nextlevelnpc@Tsar_Martyr But again, thru the athiest view, is there a reason besides "feelings" and "emotions"? Is there anything to atheist epistemology besides "it makes people sad" or "it hurts people"?
If I have no soul, and you have no soul, and there is no God/ultimate authority, then who cares?
@whiteraven271@Tsar_Martyr We aren’t apes. But conscious/sentient/etc beings (apes or human, or other animals) experience their environment and world with care and nurture for each othee, and can experience a diversity of good things and bad things in their lifetimes and within communities.
@nextlevelnpc@Tsar_Martyr In the atheist worldview, we are apes on a rock floating in space. We have no soul and no afterlife. So why would our actions or feelings matter?
