My 2 cents: The november/december narrative is clear: #Solana is currently THE chain for NFTs. I do think Sol has its raison d'être. Loaded my bags just a few days ago. Today, Solana is a family; it's a vibe. Many early Sol adopters finally feel understood, mostly because of one thing: the gas fees. It's awesome, for real. I learned to hate putting offers on FND back and forth while every transaction cost me ~$20 in gas alone. But wait. We've had L2s for ages. @0xPolygon feels just like ETH - just without the gas fees. Polygon is actually pretty awesome, we just started to dislike it because scammers sent their unsolicited NFTs to our wallets on the Polygon chain. All because of ... *low gas fees*! Ironic, isn't it? What about @arbitrum, @Optimism, or @base? There are so many fantastic L2 solutions. Don't like L2s? I understand. But What about Tezos? Buying art on Tez was THE hype in 2021. Everyone went wild on Hicetnunc, probably the most fucked up UI to mint and buy art ever. Nevertheless, we collected art like there would be no tomorrow. Every artist had drops over there, including legendary ones like @TonyBabel. Each transaction is just a few cents in gas. How many of them do you see on Tez these days? Low gas fees alone are not enough to win any chain races. High gas fees won't be enough to lose. Solana has a lot to offer, but it's certainly not the first chain to offer low gas costs. It has a vibe to it. It has great marketplaces. It might be the chain to degen on these days, and I'm actually glad to see that, even though I'm still much more committed to ETH. Happy with Sol? Why tho? The most important takeaway in our current situation should be: It doesn't matter which chain wins in the long run. We don't need a winner at all. Important is THAT we have crypto and crypto art in the future. I truly don't care if your profile picture originated on Ethereum, BTC Ordinals, or Solana. I do care about the people who are here shaping our crypto space with me. And that includes everyone on every chain and every L2 out there. If you my dear reader are exposed to any crypto chain/layer/protocol/whatever, give me a high five ✋ We should not compete. We are actually on the same boat, just on different seats. Grab a drink and enjoy the ride with me 🍻
