Spent the day finalising our T&L Playbook for next year. Core techniques are a mix of @TeachLikeAChamp and @WALKTHRUs_5 strategies. The playbook details the what, how, when and why of each, with videos from @Steplab_co for teachers to explore in labs and with their coaches. 🤓

@TeachInGlasgow @researchEDWarr @KLAWarrington I feel the same, the program was released a couple of weeks beforehand last time and the marketing was really good. I have tickets but I won’t be setting off unless I know it’s going to be worthwhile. Hopefully see you there!

It's so important for teachers to understand the implications of Cognitive Load Theory & the limitations of working memory for their students. But it's just as important for them to understand the importance of those things for themselves... A🧵

@coopbellevue thanks for a well planned, inspiring visit today. I came away smiling and energised - with plenty of food for thought. Innovative ideas, strategic vision and above all, a warm, community spirit. Very impressive stuff 👏👏👏

@mrbartonmaths @Doug_Lemov Compared with loaded assumption or sampling, whole-class questioning can allow us to be *much* more confident about what our students know (and don't)... in just as little time. It is both valid *and* efficient.

@mrbartonmaths @Doug_Lemov BUT, we’re still only taking a sample, and one that is skewed by those confident enough to put their hands up. We can of course improve validity by random sampling and asking more students, but then efficiency starts to take a hit.

@Doug_Lemov @teacherhead @mrbartonmaths A special thanks to @Mr_Raichura, where a full subtopic has ended up dedicated to his incredible work on checks for listening and checks for understanding. I've really enjoyed listening to, and reading, your work on this Pritesh - thank you for all you do and share. Exceptional!
