Between my day job at @thriftytraveler, owning and operating a coffee shop at the @mnstatefair, and just organizing my personal life, I’ve been using @ChatGPTapp and @Claude heavily for about the last year. I’m definitely not an AI expert, but I think people may be misunderstanding the AI race. The winners may not be the companies with the smartest models. They'll be the companies that become hardest to leave. What made this click for me was seeing the new health connectors inside ChatGPT. Legitimately cool and useful functionality. Once an AI starts connecting to your health data, email, calendar, travel, shopping, memory, and daily workflows, switching away stops being just a software decision. You’re leaving behind the context that your AI tool has built around your life. At the same time, Claude increasingly feels optimized for work: coding, research, large-context projects, and organizational knowledge. That creates a completely different kind of switching cost. Maybe the future isn’t one AI tool. It increasingly feels to me like it's different models becoming deeply embedded in different parts of our lives.
