Nationwide fuel shortage in Myanmar. The military generals have changed into civilian clothes to appear as a civilian government. They only care about themselves and have no intention of finding a way to solve the country's crises, including this fuel shortage. Consequently, the suffering of civilians will continue.

Fuel shortages across Myanmar have left drivers struggling as long queues form and prices double. Driven by import dependence and global tensions, the crisis has worsened inflation and disrupted transport, emergency services and aid. Al Jazeera’s Jack Barton reports.

Dozens killed and injured in Israeli strikes across Lebanon today, with attacks in Beirut hitting densely populated areas without warning. Hospitals are overwhelmed, and ambulance sirens are echoing across the city. Day one of the ceasefire.

One strike hit the building where I used to live, and another one hit one block over from my current apartment. Both in very normal residential neighborhoods: Israel strikes central Beirut without warning after saying Iran ceasefire doesn't apply there apnews.com/article/israel…

As we marvel at the adventures of Canadian astronaut Jeremy Hansen, I can’t help thinking of a dear friend & former colleague - the 1st Canadian in space, the late Hon. Marc Garneau. A brilliant public servant, Marc wld be loving all this coverage of Col Hansen’s historic flight.

Following the indiscriminate Israeli airstrike in a residential neighborhood in Beirut, Lebanon, yesterday, five people were killed, including a 15-year-old girl and two Sudanese migrants, while 52 people, including 8 children, were wounded, according to Lebanon's Ministry of Public Health.    “A man arrived with severe bleeding from his head, panicked, searching for his young child who was also injured. Only after learning his son was safe did he allow doctors to tend to him —then we realised he had lost his ear,” says Dr. Luna Hammad, MSF medical coordinator, who was part of an MSF team at Rafik Hariri Public Hospital, supporting with the emergency.    These are not isolated incidents. Yesterday alone, 39 people were killed in Israeli attacks across Lebanon, bringing the death toll in Lebanon since 2 March to 1,461, according to official sources.

Today, a strike just 100 meters from Rafik Hariri University Hospital, Lebanon's largest public medical facility, caused major damage to a nearby residential area. It killed 4 people and injured 39. The hospital sustained no damage. Between 28 and 31 March, @WHO verified 11 attacks affecting Lebanese health care facilities. This is an average of 2 attacks every day, with 5 occurring on 28 March alone, impacting facilities in Kfar Tibnit, Ghandouriyeh, Zawtar Al Gharbiyeh, Kfar Dajal, and Jazzine and resulting in 9 deaths and 5 injuries. On 29 March, attacks impacting health facilities in Bint Jbeil and Chakra caused 1 death with no injuries. On 30 March, a strike impacting the Rihab hospital in Beirut’s southern suburbs injured 4 people, while the next day, 2 facilities in Kafra and Bint Jbeil were damaged, causing 1 death and 3 injuries. Since 28 February, WHO has verified 92 attacks on health facilities, medical vehicles, personnel, and warehouses, that resulted in 53 deaths and injured 137 people. These acts cannot become the new norm. The world must reaffirm, unequivocally, that the protection of health care is not optional, but a universal obligation and a measure of our collective humanity. As Israel expands its military operations, I call on all parties to uphold their responsibility under international humanitarian law and ensure health facilities, health workers and patients are proactively protected. Healthcare is #NotATarget.

Lebanon - Around 2pm Sunday, Israeli forces struck a densely populated residential area in Beirut, only meters from Rafik Hariri Public Hospital, where MSF is supporting with an ER doctor. A mass-casualty influx followed: people bleeding, some carried on shoulders. In the first hour, 4 were killed and nearly 40 injured; more casualties are feared as rubble is cleared. “We are seeing elderly people and adolescents arriving with critical injuries to the head, chest and abdomen, including shrapnel wounds,” says Dr. Luna Hammad, MSF Medical Coordinator, from the ER at Rafik Hariri Public Hospital. “When strikes hit crowded residential areas without warning, the consequences are severe: both in human casualties and in hospitals’ capacity to respond.” MSF condemns this attack on civilians in a highly populated area and calls for the protection of civilians and health facilities. Strikes this close to a hospital spread fear and can stop people from seeking lifesaving care. MSF is donating a mass-casualty kit and will continue supporting hospitals with medical expertise and essential medical and non-medical supplies. Civilians cannot be collateral damage.

Flooding Displaces Landmines, Expanding Civilian Risk Across Multiple Governorates 04 April 2026 Geneva— April 4, 2026 — Flooding triggered by heavy seasonal rains in late March has displaced landmines and improvised explosive devices (IEDs) across several areas in Yemen, significantly expanding the threat to civilians and altering the already complex pattern of contamination in conflict-affected areas. The movement of explosive remnants has been reported in Taiz, Hodeidah, Marib, Hajjah, and Al-Jawf, where communities are now facing heightened and unpredictable risks in both rural and coastal environments. Field documentation covering the period from January to March 2026 recorded at least 35 civilian casualties resulting from landmine and IED explosions across these governorates. The victims included 13 children and two women. Of the total, 20 civilians were killed, including nine children, while 15 others were injured, among them four children and two women. The incidents reflect the continued lethality of explosive contamination and its disproportionate impact on vulnerable populations, particularly children.
