During my time @SightSoundmag I often asked why British films had become so depoliticised. Mr. Bates vs. The Post Office was probably more effective as a series than as a feature film but it also shows what’s been missing (bar 1 or 2 rare exceptions) from the film landscape.

Sailor, radio operator, far, morfar, farfar. On the 24th December, my towering dad passed away. Though we knew it was coming (damn the Big C), we’re all a little bereft. It still feels like he’s just gone for a walk. But we were all around him when he died and grateful for that.
