@mhmazur Had a fitness trainer tell me once “80% of fitness is sleep & nutrition. 20% is what we’re doing here in the gym. If you show up having eaten garbage and not getting about 8 hours of sleep avg, you’re wasting out time.” Sleep is super important. You’re smart to focus on it.

@elonmusk You are confused. It is a question whether Denmark makes sense if there are no Danes living there because these nations have an ethnic basis. But what binds Americans together is a CIVIC IDEA not a racial one. And that civic idea makes us stronger. No other nation has this.

For a country to survive, there has to be a common culture. Nobody dies to defend a “multicultural economic zone”! American culture, with its English-Scotts-Irish origin, is great and worth fighting for. Some may not realize it, but that’s why people come here. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

Important segment starting at 25 : 39 in Tucker’s video on who is a “Heritage American”, a now necessary term. A young Anthony Scalia, future Supreme Court justice, upholding Anglo-American law, consciously bristled at his ethnic and religious distinction from the WASPs whom foreign professors assigned a foundational status. But then he went to England and saw it and felt it;

Unfettered wealth inequality fuels right wing extremism, which kills democracy. I talked to an old friend in in the UK recently. He says that the UK is heading in the same direction as the US

The undergirding issue of our time is that unfettered income inequality is the fuel of right wing extremism. And democracies die in this atmosphere.

BREAKING: @MPRnews reports that Minnesota House GOP leader Lisa Demuth acknowledged the Repubican Party’s involvement in @nickshirleyy viral daycare video, saying, “We worked with Nick Shirley on this.” That matters, because the video has been widely framed as independent citizen journalism. Minnesota officials have said fraud investigations were already underway long before the video, and inspections have not backed up many of the claims made about the specific daycare centers shown. Still, the video fueled widespread outrage and targeted scrutiny of Somali-owned childcare providers. With a top Republican now on record confirming coordination, this reframes the entire narrative. This wasn’t just a lone YouTuber uncovering something new. A political party acknowledges involvement in producing or shaping media that went viral (not organically) and helped drive public backlash.

Today, I was ousted as the CEO of CodeRabbit. Without warning, my board called me and said it’s over. It happened when I was in the middle of user research. I don’t understand what I did wrong, firstly because we have acquired the most users vs any of our competitors, and secondly because our product is fun and quirky. I will take this time to reflect and figure out what’s ahead. Thank you.

@Ryanmariebach78 I’m a software engineer. I use GAI every day. The models are very close to as far as they will go (google “the scaling paradox”). GAI is subject to Jevons law, where increased efficiency in resource use can lead to increased total consumption of that resource.

@ChrisJBakke Can confirm. A friend that worked for him claimed he would show up to meetings hours past the meeting time often in the middle of the night, raving about the basketball game he’d just witnessed, very amped… not exactly “on mission”. Making it more a quantity over quality thing.

When I reported to Elon, we would have X product meetings at 5 or 6pm (because he was with the Tesla team for 10 hours before that), then my 1:1 checkin would be at 10pm, but that would regularly get moved to 11pm or midnight or 1am. Usually around 2am, he’d go take a nap for a couple hours in the office and then repeat the same schedule again the next day with a different set of companies, 7 days a week.

@nicksortor Trump creates a problem then he fixes it and his cult members cheer? Prices aren’t going to go backwards generally. Presidents can’t do that.

$1.8 trillion in federal student loans isn't capitalism. Mandated health insurance markets aren’t capitalism. Corporate tax credits written by lobbyists aren’t capitalism. Federally funded “green energy” subsidies aren’t capitalism. Central bank money printing isn’t capitalism. Stop blaming capitalism for problems capitalism didn't create.

Peter Thiel: If you graduated in 1970 with no student debt, compare that to the millennial experience: too many people go to college, they don’t learn anything, and they end up with incredibly burdensome debt. Student debt is a version of this generational conflict that I’ve talked about for a long time. The rupture of the generational compact isn’t limited to student debt, either. I think you can reduce 80 percent of culture wars to questions of economics—like a libertarian or a Marxist would—and then you can reduce maybe 80 percent of economic questions to questions of real estate. It’s extremely difficult these days for young people to become homeowners. If you have extremely strict zoning laws and restrictions on building more housing, it’s good for the boomers, whose properties keep going up in value, and terrible for the millennials. If you proletarianize the young people, you shouldn’t be surprised if they eventually become communist.”

@elonmusk Like SpaceX are de facto monopolies that also suck on the teat of gov It’s not black and white. Government does do things better in certain circumstances. For-profit companies do shitty things (Ford is going the Enron route fi) Elon’s corps are hopelessly dependent on gov too!

The reason government programs are so inefficient is that, unlike a commercial company, the feedback loop for improvement is broken, because they have a state-mandated monopoly and can’t go out of business if customers are unhappy. No matter how bad the service is at your DMV (sorry to pick on DMVs), you still have to use your DMV, because it’s a monopoly.

@brankopetric00 And yet I worked at a company where we had over 450 services and it was one of the most productive times of my life. There are good reasons to have a constellation of services There are good reasons to have a monolith. It depends!

3 years ago, we chose a monolith. Today, that monolith: - Runs in a single ASG. - Deploys in 12 minutes. - Is understood by every engineer. - Has a single, fast test suite. - Costs 1/5th what our 'microservice' platform does. We're now building our second product. It's also a monolith. Microservices solve problems we don't have. And they create problems we don't want.
