@VicseraT @You3_JP @kerorinex

🇯🇵 Kora Taisha in Fukuoka is probably my favorite shrine in Japan. No one knows when it was founded but its first mention is in 795 AD in an historical text. The view from the shrine is amazing.

Trending today in Japan: Japanese cleaning again. I think that the Japanese actually like cleaning, more at least, than other nations as evidenced by the relative lack of Roomba, and existence of cleaning games 🎥 @dadada012312323

@nihonbunka @travelingflying Judging from that graph, you are only looking at petty theft crime numbers. Other types of serious crimes, including rape, murder, violence, scams have been exploding in numbers.

Black man is stopped by police in Japan and has his bicycle searched. He gets upset: “This is racist. Because of my skin color? Why are you stopping me, because of my skin color?” In Japan, shouting “racism” doesn’t work like in America. You need to follow the law.

It is often said that the lift on a wing is generated because the flow moving over the top surface has a longer distance to travel and therefore needs to go faster. This common explanation is actually wrong.

@lisavsworld He's right, though. In a logical sense, if God is real and created all things, that includes his culture. It's a simple fact, and ignoring it because it appears complex and inconvenient to your worldview is certainly arrogant.

I ended up in a strange conversation with a Japanese person. I do not think it was a translation error, but a heightened emotional error. He was angry and could not understand what I was saying despite me being kind and trying to agree with him. This person was complaining about the attitudes of western Christians and their zealousness. I said, "Oh yes, thar can be problem with Western Christians. They do not understand Japanese culture or how Japanese people think. So, they try to inappropriately push their ideas onto Japanese people." The Japanese person said, "That doesn't make any sense! They won't acknowledge that they're wrong about how God created all things, including Japanese religions. They are unable to exchange ideas and have a conversation!" I said, "Ah yes, well western Christians do not believe God created Japanese religions. This is a difference of religious cultural belief and they do not understand how Japanese think. Communication style is also different." He became angrier with me and said I was not listening to him. He repeated himself, "No, this is not a culture or language difference. That makes no sense! They are wrong." I said, "Yes, they are wrong to push their ideas onto you as they've been very harsh. But they do not believe the same thing as you. This is a cultural belief, it is not a universal belief. Different cultures believe different things. I am sorry they have been so rude to you and are not trying to understand you." He then accused me of being a "waste of conversation" and "not meeting him halfway." I thought this was odd and very rude to say to me. I agreed with him that Christians were being rude to him. But he made the same mistake as the western Christians in believing his cultural idea was universal. Because they did not accept his worldview, they were bad people and he implied I was a bad person for not accepting it either. So much of this cultural exchange will end poorly if we do not understand that we believe different things. Our beliefs are shaped by our language, culture, and historical cultures. It changes the way that we think. Morals that exist for us are often not the same in other cultures. I think the lesson here was the Japanese person was acting the same as the bad behavior he saw in the west. He just could not recognize it because to him, his was the acceptable behavior. You have to remember, just because behavior is acceptable in your country, doesn't mean it is normal in another country.

@japanauthor I never knew.

Understandably most people believe it was the Americans who occupied Japan after WW2. In fact there were two occupying were two occupying and separate forces in Japan after the end of World War 2 until 1952. The Americans were the largest and, as can be seen from the map, occupied Kyushu and most of Honshu. The smaller British Commonwealth Occupation Force (BCOF) was a task force consisting of Australian, British, Indian and New Zealand military forces. grahamthomasauthor.wordpress.com/2024/09/13/all…

@BrianABCS On my commute there are left turns & T-junctions where I mounted the pavement and skipped the lights. Wait or risk a blue ticket? Now we are drivers, I wish they'd skip compulsory Copenhagen two stage right turns. I am the only cyclist using hand signals. I want a blue prize.

@skindie___ @saharamakoto “Itadakimasu” literally means, “I humbly receive (this food)”. It is a bit like saying grace (at primary school we said, “For what we are about to receive, may the Lord make us truly grateful.”) but it is not directed, or at the whole world (the host, cook, God, the farmers…)

Lets summarize: You suggest a shaped charge was retrofitted in a very small device (smaller than any world use examples) with targeting precision leaving no smoke and no visible scorching trace that was able to detonate in a one and done lethal delivery and also timed precisely with some sound of a shot fired at exactly the same time, a sound which witnesses claim came from behind them. All of this you say, is the most likely explanation. It sound least likely to me.

A shaped charge device was purchased from a miniature explosives factory in Tennessee which was embedded into his microphone under his shirt. A week after Jon Bray out forward this theory and started assembling evidence, the company that was contracted by our military to make it, randomly exploded killing everyone and completely wiping the building off the earth. This is how they killed Charlie Kirk.
