Database architecture thread. Technical. There has been several startups building an operational relational databases focused on OLTP with a shared nothing architecture. @neondatabase is using a different approach - shared storage. What's the difference?

@neondatabase You are the GOAT. PITR just saved me in production.. I had a weird bug that reset the cms content with seed data if the payload wasn't normalized properly, and with @OpenAICodexCli and MCP I was able to fix prod data safely, and fix the bug. SO MUCH EASIER WITH AI.

"Often these things boil down to one single question: What is the one thing I need to believe about this company that makes me think it's going to continue to be really big? Usually, it's one thing. If it's three things, it's too complicated. It's probably not going to work. If it's no things, then it doesn't make much sense." — Elad Gil Listen to my interview with @eladgil: tim.blog/2026/04/29/ela…

Agents are great testers and bug fixers if focused on this work. For code bases with a high quality bar (databases) and massive test suites, agents root causing bugs and proposing fixes is a big time saver. I hope they keep improving as testers! @adamprout/agents-are-better-testers-than-we-are-30b1738114d6" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">medium.com/@adamprout/age…

Docs team at @neondatabase and Lakebase were first AI powerusers outside ENG, still top leaderboards... - Content: No slop, using AI for reviews, fact-checking, fan-out updates, process automation - Code: 10x'ed contribution to docs codebase - Tools: Primarily @cursor_ai

Meet the new Netlify Database. Fully managed Postgres, built into the platform. Every agent run automatically gets its own database branch. Here's why that matters. 🧵 netlify.com/blog/netlify-d…

@nikitabase @neondatabase @krystiangebis Would be awesome to be able to restore db independently instead of all dbs in the project. We have 1 db per customer and all the operations to restore are not that helpful when applied to all dbs in the project.

This is why you use database branching. Never give your agents access to prod. Ever. I love @neondatabase - have an article in the works about how i use it with agents, should be out this week

I haven't used Codex in a bit, but with GPT-5.5 it is currently crushing a one-shot prompt with @stripe Projects for provisioning @neondatabase for db, @Railway for hosting, and using the Stripe Sessions 2026 website for design reference. One aside: I ended up reverting back to Claude with Opus 4.6 to do a secondary design critique and polish improvements. And @mrramibanna will be happy to know that Stripe Projects was managed gracefully by both!

@elonmusk please add locking out video games to parental controls in Tesla. Every parent wants to limit screen time. It’s currently tied to Valet mode which makes no product sense.

I want to share some difficult news. I was recently diagnosed with a rare form of cancer and I want you to hear it directly from me. Treatment is starting immediately and will include multiple strategies over the course of about a year. While I will be stepping back from some of my usual activities, I will continue to support SV Angel founders, who I love with a passion. SV Angel remains unchanged. Topher has made all of our investment decisions for the better part of the last decade, and Ronny joined as Managing Partner in 2024. They bring experience from nearly every major technology cycle in Silicon Valley and are now focused on partnering with founders building the future of AI. SV Angel has a deep, experienced team that remains fully focused on supporting exceptional founders. With a more focused and balanced schedule, I can prioritize treatments while helping SV Angel founders at inflection points like we always do! I’ve chosen not to share the specific type of cancer since I don't want speculation about my prognosis. I appreciate your understanding and respect for this. I am optimistic about my prognosis. I am fortunate to have the best/amazing team of UCSF doctors in San Francisco, and as you know, I never back down from a fight. Thank you for your support, it means a great deal to me.
