@niklogvinenko No, they stopped showing your app for an exact app name search (suggestion), mainly in the US storefront. It has been the same for one year now. Sometimes it works, it just takes longer to rank first.
Axel Le Pennec@alpennec

😨 Is the App Store launch boost gone? New apps suggested in the search used to rank first for exact keyword matches. Lately, that doesn't seem to happen anymore, making ASO harder 😱 Have you noticed this with your apps?

Fair point, Ariel. I have both positive & negative experiences in the past, and of course it all depends on a lot of factors (including seasons, icon and etc) But still I think it’s much harder to get organic traffic for new apps from indies in 2026 compared to 2022. Much harder!

I've been hearing this a lot recently, and the truth is that ASO is only dead if you don't try and expect to rise to the top of the list because your app is the bestest. Not pointing fingers because I don't know what this app is, but I see the same issues in my live ASO teardowns all the time...

ASO is officially dead. We released an iOS app and got only 7 daily installs in the first month. Almost no purchases. 2 years ago after the app release we got 10x more daily installs and a lot of purchases. Organic doesn’t work anymore. Hard times for indies.

@marleen_swift Something with viral potential on TikTok It should be recognizable even in a 5-second video No specific preferences about colors, design — it’s all up to you Niche — education (mostly for US students)

@niklogvinenko Are you looking for something more minimalist and modern? Or a logo with a stronger personality or an illustration/icon direction? Also curious about the app's industry or niche.

@athcanft Agree. It mostly depends not on your product, but on the problem you are solving. So no matter how much you invest in improving retention rate, users will leave anyway it just because they naturally do not need it so often.

@athcanft @adamlyttleapps I think the issue is not with a second paywall itself. It’s the so-called abandoned transaction flow, when a user taps close on an Apple native window and you instantly show the second paywall.

@adamlyttleapps confused - many apps have retention offers - not sure why apple are so inconsistent on it

The thing being missed amongst the drama here: This type of message from Apple used to get the account terminated without explanation Now the app gets removed, and hopefully, is restored once the issue is fixed We know the Cal AI app was removed for a similar reason and then restored. This signals to me: it’s not just massive big accounts that get second chances now (let’s wait to see whether that’s confirmed) And, to be fair, it was kinda unknown whether it was the actual retention offer that got Cal AI removed. My interpretation is that it was the wording, the spinning animation, etc as well. Now we have a definitive answer: no retention offers.

@niklogvinenko amplitude + chatgpt is totally doable, just gotta use a custom integration or webhook. not as plug-and-play as we’d like though. indie hackers know the drill 💪

If I find profitable keywords, I bid aggressively to try to get 100% impression share. y favorite part is taking impressions away from ChatOn ($5M/month). Those guys are absolute beasts at marketing with basically unlimited budgets

@i_Kisliy I was also surprised about that 😅 But I think we will outperform it pretty soon. We just have a much better app.

My biggest mindset shift: Do not compete with 1k+ competitors for a generic keyword. Create your OWN keyword and make it popular.
