@PetrieDaParrot anyway, you are right this is not the most important thing and in that vein I'm going to stop spending my time tweeting about it lol

@PetrieDaParrot I agree writing an article critiquing PSL should not be a priority by any means, but it's not like a huge deal or bad that it happened. sometimes people have an idea and time to write about it. not everything needs to be always focused on what is statistically the most relevant.

@mark9191717 @DSASocMaj I see what you mean but that's not what most people understand the term to mean. and again, SPUSA is even more irrelevant than the Rose Caucus was lol.

Socialist Majority Caucus
Zohran’s historic victory has infused new energy into DSA and the larger American Left. James Jackson argues that strategies employed by PSL harm the movement and direct potential energy into doomed and pointless campaigns. Read below!

@PetrieDaParrot that's bad, definitely worse than what PSL does. I guess I'm primarily confused by the idea that PSL and No Kings aren't criticized with the appropriate scale. Every convo I've had with a DSA member about no kings has involved criticism. it's okay if we also criticize PSL too

@PetrieDaParrot weaknesses of PSL. they are smaller than DSA but have a very solid media apparatus and protest organizing ability that make them a prominent and appealing presence in many cities, especially to newer socialists. It shouldn't be taboo to critique them

@PetrieDaParrot the point of critique within the socialist movement is to strengthen it. critiquing other socialists' strategy can help strengthen and better understand our own, whether that be others in DSA or in separate organizations. we should analyze and learn from the strengths and...

@PetrieDaParrot Things A and B are different in a lot of ways. people can show up at No Kings rallies and join DSA because of our presence there. The dynamics are different with electoral political campaigns run by PSL, where there is rarely close collaboration or endorsement with DSA.

@PetrieDaParrot There are some cities where PSL are more influential than others, and they do get a decent amount of attention from vaguely left wing people who are excited they are running a candidate for senate whereas DSA doesn't have much electoral presence.

@PetrieDaParrot also, I think PSL is critiqued often because they claim to be building a socialist party, which DSA also wants to do. whereas I believe there is a consensus that DSA does not want to become a liberal ngo that organizes almost exclusively on an anti-Trump basis.

@mark9191717 @DSASocMaj SPUSA is not a sister organization to DSA, there is no relationship there. unless you are somehow referring to the historical SPA or something?, which is a historical predecessor to both. SPUSA doesn't do anything now

@DSASocMaj A better example than the Rose Caucus would’ve been DSA’s sister organization, SPUSA

Some started as factions or splits from other caucuses. Some might have factions now or will someday. Some of the caucuses now won’t exist in a few years. It all changes over time, and the key is to always prioritize DSA as an entire org, whether you’re in a caucus or not.
Urbaneblob 🇵🇸🌹@urbaneblob

I’ll be totally real, there are some DSA caucuses that could have just been factions within another preexisting caucus and it would’ve made more sense

Claire Valdez is a union organizer who worked minimum-wage fast food jobs and understands firsthand how this economy fails working people. In my view, Congress needs more voices like Claire, who come from America's working class.
Claire Valdez@claireforny

Three things made me a democratic socialist: low-wage jobs, the labor movement, and the campaigns of @BernieSanders. His political revolution changed my life — and showed millions of Americans what's possible when working people organize. I am so grateful for his support.
