You’re still conflating voter ID with the SAVE Act. Most states already require some form of ID to vote. The SAVE Act is about requiring documentary proof of citizenship to register. Also, personal anecdotes about ballot stuffing or people paying homeless voters aren’t evidence that those things are widespread or that the SAVE Act would prevent them. If someone is committing ballot harvesting, coercion, or vote buying, they’re already breaking multiple laws. A birth certificate at registration doesn’t stop those crimes. If your argument is that some states don’t enforce election laws well enough, then strengthen enforcement and oversight, but you still haven’t explained why creating new registration hurdles for millions of eligible citizens is the right solution to address a comparatively small number of documented non-citizen registrations.

No I’m not changing the subject. The legit only way to actively stop illegal voting and cheating is to enact voter id laws. It’s common sense, every other country has it except us. You can sue states and that takes years to go through and that federal government might not win. Obviously California does not act in good faith I think we can all agree there. I’ve seen mail in ballots being stuffed, people going to old folks home and snagging ballots, paying people on skid row to vote. Having a voter ID would stop a lot of the issues we have on top of forcing California to audit its rolls. Remember, California was supposed to stop its homeless with 30b, build a high speed rail for 20b… No track is laid, homeless has expanded, and newsom signed laws punishing people investigating, also shutdown the audit of the homelessness… It’s not a “just sue them and it will be fixed”

You’re changing the subject. I never said every state acts in good faith. I said there are more targeted ways to secure elections than making every eligible American jump through additional hoops. Also, California didn’t refuse to maintain its voter rolls. The dispute is over whether the federal government can compel states to turn over sensitive voter data. Courts have ruled the federal government can’t simply demand that information in the way it tried. That’s a federalism and privacy dispute, not proof that states don’t audit their rolls. If a state isn’t following election law, sue them, enforce existing law, and fix the systems that failed. Requiring documentary proof of citizenship from every voter doesn’t magically solve states refusing to cooperate.

Heres the thing, those states dont "audit" the rolls. California has actively blocked the federal government from trying to do an audit as well. How do you force that when states are refusing to cooperate with the federal government? You assume everyone acts in good faith to stop cheating and illegal voting, when infact they do not.

You’re presenting a false choice. The options aren’t “SAVE Act or insecure elections.” The NJ problem was caused by a government software error. Fix the registration system, verify citizenship through government databases, audit voter rolls, and prosecute illegal voting. That’s a lot more targeted than adding paperwork requirements for millions of eligible Americans because of a few hundred improper registrations.

@nikosunity @LeadingReport Then what is your "secure elections"? 400 just voted illegally.. some elections are decided within that small amount, so what do you purpose! Take it to congress! Go with your extensive knowledge on how you can secure elections without proof of citizenship.

The SAVE Act isn’t a voter ID law. I have no problem showing my driver’s license to vote. The SAVE Act requires documentary proof of citizenship to register, which is a different thing entirely. The concern isn’t that millions of Americans will permanently lose the right to vote. It’s that millions don’t have ready access to the documents the law requires, meaning they’ll face additional costs, delays, or hurdles to register or update their registration, all to address a problem that has been shown to be extremely rare. We can secure elections without creating new barriers for eligible citizens.

@nikosunity @LeadingReport "Fuck over millions" How would that work exactly? Wheres the proof that it will do that? And yes actually. You want secure elections right? Why are we not having voter ID? Every other country has voter ID but us, dont see them complaining

@RoguePuddle @LeadingReport It doesn’t fucking matter dude, it’s a non-issue, you’re willing to fuck over millions of Americans to somehow prevent an extremely small amount of insignificant non-citizens votes. There’s other ways to fix that without making it harder for Americans to vote.

I’m only talking about of voting age citizens and it’s not just about ID, the SAVE Act is about providing documentary proof of citizenship when registering to vote. Those are different requirements, and someone can have a driver’s license but not readily have access to a passport, birth certificate, or naturalization certificate.

🤦‍♂️ dude you’re a special kind of stupid. I’m literally showing you my IP. You believe stupid shit like the SAVE Act which would hurt way Americans more than it would help our elections. About 21.3 million US citizens lack ready access to proof of citizenship documents that the SAVE Act would require, while the New Jersey incident involved fewer than 400 non-citizens casting ballots due to a registration error. Those figures differ by roughly 53,000 times.

It’s more than “leftists” that don’t want to pass it. There’s plenty of Republicans that don’t like it either. The problem is it disenfranchises around 2.6 million Americans to try to stop an extremely small amount of non-citizens that might have voted illegally but insignificantly.

@JennaTheFoxGirl @nikosunity @justNPRthings @LeadingReport That is patently false. You are making things up to be upset over. If you have a driver’s license, you already have the ID required to vote that would be in the bill. If you don’t have some form of ID that is approved by the government, you are already a failure in life.

And how would the SAVE Act prevent a software glitch from accidentally registering voters? It won’t and the fact they caught it shows there are already systems in place that flag fraudulent votes. Some of those people that voted illegally have already been charged. Again this 400 votes out of 4,000,000, that’s less than .01%.

@nikosunity @LeadingReport That is voter fraud. If I somehow get more money back doing my taxes when I shouldn't due to a software glitch that is fraud. Ignorance of the law is not an excuse.
