Fellow Ugandans, especially the Bazzukulu. Habaari. Greetings to all of you. Of recent, I have noticed a lot of orwaari (noise, kelele), regarding the Sovereignty Bill. Which Sovereignty Bill is the rwaari about? The one I initiated in the Cabinet or another one? The Bill will stop FDIs (Foreign Direct Investments), support for religious bodies from abroad, Remittances from Ugandans working abroad, etc., etc. Really!! That is not the Bill I initiated. Below is clarification on what I initiated.

You must have heard about a drug called MINOXIDIL. The level of misuse and abuse towards this drug is shocking. Young men whom I consider simps and soy-boys who have been told that beards attract women are in competition of using this drug. But do you know what it is? Minoxidil is an anti-hypertensive medicine initially manufactured for treating severe hypertension. But it was stopped due to its severe cardio-vascular side effects like heart damage. Its action on hair follicles is, - Increasing blood supply to the hair follicles. - It increases the ANAGEN phase and shortens the TELOGEN phase thereby inhibiting hair follicle miniaturization. But here is the problem, - It is anti-androgenetic or anti-testosterone. It therefore causes: • Erectile Dysfunction • Muscle loss • Low sperm count • and because it is a potent anti-hypertensive, it causes hypotension and heart failure. What happens in the pharmaceutical industry is that once a drug has been found to be dangerous, it is diverted to another use, supported by sponsored research studies. The industry cannot discontinue a drug just like that. It has to identify somewhere the drug will sit without raising eyebrows. It is like toxic industrial wastes (Fluoride and Folic Acid) which have found themselves in the mainstream medical system as "Preventive Substances."

Every Ugandan who qualifies to be President of Uganda is free to aspire. What is being questioned is Among using public resources at the expense of tax payers to achieve that. In the 11th parliament she turned parliament into a donation and dealership house. She was too impatient to serve as Deputy Speaker even for 5 years. She used our tax payers money to bribe NRM structures to become 2nd Vice Chairman of NRM just to position herself for the big seat. Now she is playing with our minds that she doesn't want to become President because she doesn't know how to shoot a gun. All she wants is to be Speaker of 12th Parliament and then in a calebdestine manner use our public resources at the expense of taxes payers to entrench herself in all NRM grassroot structures. In 2031 when she leaves Speakership, she will have various options including quitting NRM to contest as opposition or under a breakaway group of NRM. You need to watch how she wanted to be the one to welcome independent MPs into NRM just to create her base within NRM. She even had hijacked NRM victory celebrations country wide. Her going on every rally of M7 was not to campaign for M7 but to introduce herself to the population. But all this is fine as long she doesn't continue to use our public funds. But once she remains a speaker of 12th parliament she will have unlimited public funds to do her bidding. So the people are saying no. We need services and not politicking.

@norbertmao You seem to suggest that Among having presidential ambitions or rumoured as such, is treason or inappropriate of her. Or am I reading this wrong? You once ran as a presidential candidate. Do you regret that?

Earlier today I asked a simple question: What does the opposition in Uganda really do? Predictably, their supporters lashed back at me. But let’s cut through the spin: the opposition is one of the major facilitators of corruption in this country. Parliament’s accountability committees: PAC Central, PAC Local Government, COSASE and each has about 30 Opposition MPs, handpicked by party whips to reflect multiparty representation. And here’s the kicker: they are chaired by the opposition led by @NUP_Ug. Their mandate is clear scrutinize Auditor General reports, summon officials, demand financial accountability. They sit for roughly 2.5 years at a time. The NRM numbers here do not count in these Committees. Yet what have they delivered? Nothing of substance. Earlier this week I asked @IGGUganda why no top government official has been arrested since the days of the Late Christopher Obey and Kazinda back in 2012. Fourteen years have passed. Fourteen. And what does the opposition have to show? The only notable case was the former ED of @UNBSug, who openly admitted to bribing the Board Chair. That’s it. So let’s be blunt: why haven’t opposition-led accountability committees caused the arrest of any top civil servant? Every single session has CID officers present. ALWAYS. The machinery is there. The oversight is there. The authority is there. What’s missing? The will. The courage. The integrity. The opposition MPs are also failing this country. They are not doing their jobs. They are shielding civil servants instead of holding them accountable. And if you doubt it, ask @NandalaMafabi, he knows exactly how these committees are supposed to work and he did a very fine job. Ugandans deserve answers. Enough of the excuses. Opposition MPs must stop masquerading as watchdogs while enabling the rot.

@Johnnyjeffrie18 @TonyNatif Tony is asking @bobamsterdam to be sincere and genuine in his human rights activism. Him keeping quiet on atrocities committed by his country the US and Israel is proof that his condemnation of human rights violations in Africa is based on selfish interests.

@TonyNatif So you’re blaming this guy for a bad law that your military dictatorship is implementing? Why not take responsibility for it and have some backbone to fix it? The problems in your country are always somewhere else. Man up!

You and your meddling ways have partly contributed to this awful bill. Why don’t you stick to discussing the atrocities your baby killing home country, Israel is doing in Lebanon, Iran and Gaza? Yes, the Sovereignty Bill is despicable and is akin to killing a mosquito with a hammer but it is for us Ugandans to sort out on our own terms. Stay out of it.
Robert Amsterdam@robertamsterdam

Museveni may think the so-called Sovereignty Bill will legitimise his authoritarian rule, but it will only expose it — a dictatorship Western governments may no longer be able to pretend not to see.
