In my view, one can't logically ask a political party to act keeping it's politics aside. All our choices (of individuals or bodies of individuals) are political. Yours and mine too. To not be seen as a political movement is a strategic political choice as well.

Mr Singh and his twitter feed.
Vishwajeet Singh@VishuAdv

@nit_set You are one of the fear mongers. You refuse to hold government accountable and you take a partisan approach. You are biased and your reportage is heavily slanted against one community. Your slant stems from whatsapp narrative. You should give up your so called journalism.

2. Enter, the Digital Personal Data Protection Act or DPDP Act (as we call it). But more on that in our following posts. Till then, visit rti404.com where we are collecting all the instances when the government has responded with a "no" or just silence.

Right to information?....No, it's the right to intimidate, as far as the government is concerned. From silence to absolute denial, the government really knows how to turn curiosity into rejection and even fear. 1/3

#Manipur The Naga group UNC was unable to meet anyone but the govt interlocture in Delhi. The Kuki group KZC met the IB head and MHA officials. In Nagaland an Assam Rifles soldier was killed and in Manipur houses of meitei people burned down despite heavy presence of Army. The fear, anger and violence in Manipur escalates each day. If you want to understand why 👇 reporters-collective.in/trc/head-peace…
Vijaita Singh@vijaita

As Naga groups continue to block the supply of essentials to Kuki-Zo areas in Manipur’s Kangpokpi, the Kuki-Zo Council (KZC), an apex body of the tribes, met Director of Intelligence Bureau (IB) Mahesh Dixit and senior MHA officials seeking the Centre’s intervention to the crisis and expedition of political solution. thehindu.com/news/national/…

Such a novel project. 117 constituencies of Punjab mapped and their pre + post delimitation structures intricately analysed and presented with super valuable insights. Being a tiny part of this project was a fulfilling experience! Do check out - boundaries.in
Deepesh Gulgulia@deepeshgulgulia

India redrew the electoral map of most of its states in 2008. The old boundaries on which every election from the 1970s to 2000s was fought were retired with no public source. Not on the EC website. Not in any archive. Nowhere. But now they do boundaries.in

"As a student, Jaswant Singh Khalra held leftist views, was drawn to Marxism and Leninism, and was associated for a time with the Naujawan Bharat Sabha. He later worked as a bank manager. It was the sudden disappearance of a colleague, and his own attempt to find him, that turned him into a human rights activist, working with a rights organisation." @nit_set You're in the business of truth We need better tellers of stories who can encapsulate the armed conflicts + state brutality and the impact of BOTH on civilians Glossing over the conflict and focusing on the means of ending it is counter-productive, and unfair to the victims

Someone made this point I think earlier on this platform: India's methods of 'putting down' armed conflicts have been brutal and come at the cost of large civilian populations across communities suffering great misery. From Mizoram to Punjab. Its an intellectual failure when one tries to jacket it down to 'give me an exact number' conversation. Or to equate the actions of the armed actors with the actions of the State to explain down the latters' overwhelming breach of constitutional safeguards. One does not justify the other, if it did we as a country end up justifying even violent authoritarianism by the State. As a citizen I hold the State to higher standards because its only power is drawn from the laws and the Constitution, even during an armed conflict. Not from being lawless. In a country where since Nehruvian era AFSPAsque impuntiy has been justified since 1958 by the govts and some others, one should be more careful of how low on the slippery slope the State already is today on this count. Those who became metaphors, by their own choice, of State sponsored illegitimate and extreme violence against citizens, must not remain valourised. We must have much better standards for who our 'heroes' are as a country.

I feel the problem is, most of those commenting don't travel with night trains often. In last 10 years, I may have taken sleeper train like 5 times, but each of those time, person comes to collect towels, bedsheets etc couple of stations before your end destination. In fact, many a times I have gotten in argument for them asking to give everything early in the morning. So chances of theft is extremely exaggerated. This is also likely a loot by contractors and railway officials, blamed on public.

I have been unlawfully detained, this is a conspiracy by MLA Atul Bora & Himanta Biswa Sarma, alleges @PranabDoley19 as he was picked up from Dispur P.S., where he was being detained. Doley is being transferred to Golaghat district, where the original FIR was lodged at a P.S. (Bokakhat).
