Beauty of Democracy - The entire Lottery Martin family wins as a pack across parties! The whole Martin family joined different parties so that, in case of emergency, they can help each other and also get help from all parties. Below is the impressive electoral performance of the Martin family: Leema Rose (wife of Senior Martin) - won as an ADMK candidate. Jose Charles Martin (son of Senior Martin) - won as an LJK candidate. Aadhav Arjuna (son-in-law of Senior Martin) - won as a TVK candidate. Hello democracy, are you kiddin me?

“Before, it was the British Raj. Today, these people rule.” In 2022, a state-backed tribal welfare body granted consent it did not legally hold on behalf of the Shompen tribe for the ₹92,000-crore Great Nicobar mega project, @rishpardikar reports article-14.com/post/a-state-b…

Bombshell: Leaked audio recordings prove Argentina's libertarian President Javier Milei is conspiring with the drug lord Juan Orlando Hernández -- the drug-trafficking former dictator of Honduras, whom Trump freed from prison. In a recording between Milei and the drug lord, Hernández proposed creating a right-wing fake news operation, with the support of the US government, in order to spread propaganda online to "eliminate the left" in Latin America, targeting Mexico, Brazil, Colombia, Venezuela, and the left-wing opposition in Honduras. The self-declared "anarcho-capitalist" Milei offered to contribute $350,000 USD of Argentine government money to help fund this disinformation operation, while millions of Argentines are suffering in poverty, and they have to eat donkey meat, because they can't afford local beef. @nit_set Absolutely! Besides, blaming China for anything and everything in NE is also laughable! Even intel agencies know this is not true; but nobody will tell you that successive govts have played divide and rule to exploit the ethnic fault lines and pit one community against another!!

In my view, a callous and typical mainland condescending way out of a critique, which wasn't anyway of your interviews alone (that's why I said, 'journalism') . You asked a preliminary question of him of AR bias, so did better than most others who have brought an AR view in unquestioned. It's a line of questioning that could be pursued with even written history evidence much further.

The racist President of the United States. Would love to read more on the laws and regulations that do or (fail, and how) to govern the actions and behaviour of the executive head in the US. And on democratic Institutional scaffoldings in the country. Please share, if you know any.

Trump: "Somalia, it's a beautiful place. It's got no anything. It's got one thing that's really strong -- crime. All they do is run around shooting each other. It's filthy dirty, disgusting dirty. It's a horrible place. They come here, and Ilhan Omar, she heads it. She married her brother. I would imagine they're looking at her. Isn't she despicable? We ought to get those people the hell out of our country."

Why won't retired officials of Assam Rifles also talk of the dubious history and role of Assam Rifles in Manipur. We have not forgotten the protest by Meitei Ima who had to disrobe to shame the State to follow the Constitution at least in pretense. The illegal killings in hundreds that happened. The rape, torture and killings. Journalism should stop treating these retired officials as some dispensers of the holy grain of truth.
The Hindu@the_hindu

In an interview with @vijaita, a former Director General of Assam Rifles, Pradeep Chandran Nair describes Manipur as a “highly weaponised society” and explains how arms proliferation and security challenges are contributing to the resurgence of violence in the state. Evil websites like Libgen, Z-library, and Sci-Hub had pirated millions of academic books and papers. They've been shut down, and rightly so. We shouldn't use them anyway. We should make billion-dollar academic publishers richer. Anyway, here's how to access these libraries: 🚨DO NOT DO THIS!

Teaching #InvestigativeJournalism. One of the challenges in India today is providing young journaliat methods and opportunities to pursue rigorous journalism which grows in subject depth at a time when spaces (political and editorial) have shrunk. I could have asked for no one better than @RemaNagarajan to come teach my students of investigative journalism at @AshokaUniv to share her learnings, skills and methods. She, for 30 years has written on public health issues with a focus on driving policy corrections, holding institutions accountable and bringing change at scale. She deploys data insightfully and doggedly for her work. I have learnt from her as a colleague. Now my students will too.

Jaanwar se badtar haalat mein hazaaron log Manipur ke relief camps mein rehne majboor hain. Meiteis aur Kukis dono hi. Request all of you to take out 5 minutes and see my report from #Manipur. People are living in beyond inhumane conditions .. they’re dying. The least we can do is know their stories. Over 58,000 internally displaced people, as I write this .. acc to official government data ..are living in over 200 relief camps across the state. And Mr PM, while you’re in the neighbouring state playing football with children, people in Manipur are sleeping on pavements meant for vegetable and fish vendors, living next to drains and gutters. Girls can’t even step out at night to use the toilets because they’re afraid they’ll be RAPED or KILLED. Because this is happening with girls inside relief camps...it’s just not all coming out in the news. And this is not for a day. Not for a week. This has been their life for three years. I repeat ..THREE YEARS. I challenge you, or any of your ministers, to come and live in these camps for 24 hours. If you can survive it, I will stop reporting from Manipur. Don’t shoot the messenger, sir. As a journalist on the ground, this is our job ...to show you this and request you, with folded hands, to please help those living in relief camps. Get them out of there. Give them humane conditions. At the very least. You can do it. You know you can. When you were supposed to come to Manipur, roads were built overnight...so why have relief camps taken three years? Why can’t the government ensure basic dignity for people who have already lost everything in a conflict they had no role in?

Mere rhetorical exuberance for solar power, making the case for it due to falling or flattened price discovery is not enough, as this piece shows. An intermittent form of energy has its challenges. Adding storage capacity for solar will raise its cost. The power demand projections need to be realistic, based on realistic growth projections, taking into account intermittancy of solar and levelised costs of different power sources. As revised GDP numbers show our growth has been lower than that factored for making power projections. We are way past 'let us announce a bigger solar capacity number to show the world first and plan later for it at home later' yet again, but we have done it yet again.
Shreya Jai@shreya_jai

If this doesn't scream scaling up energy storage as soon as possible, nothing will. Till then it is just wastage of renewable energy generation and the capital invested in these projects. Good one @riturajbaruah1
