This sweatshirt is 25 years old from my freshman year in college. But broke it out for tonight. Let’s go @miamioh_bball.

My son wanted a book about the Punic Wars for kids. He alerted me to some issues with it.

With Purdue faltering, I should switch my loyalty to Miami of Ohio. Disrespected MAC team playing out of their minds, and their coach is a native Hoosier/Butler alum! espn.com/mens-college-b…

I’ve got a fun one this morning. If you saw what you thought was a surefire money-making opportunity to go all-in, would you? Here’s what @AlanMCole did:

@maustermuhle This is how Chicago handles street parking in the winter. Parking cones, chairs, buckets, etc. It is understood if you dig out the spot, it is yours for the season.

@George_A_Callas @LPDonovan Key was to shovel 2x during the day when light and powder and then leave a small layer for the ice to bind to. Clean up this morning was totally fine.

@LPDonovan Because ice on top of snow is better than ice on top of asphalt/concrete?

I love the gang but this was without exaggeration the worst advice I have ever received.

Snow totals mounting as sleet line reaches DC's southern suburbs (7a) Snow amounts around the region have climbed to 2.5 to 5 inches; the most common amounts are between 3 and 4 inches. Washington Dulles International Airport has received 4 inches while Reagan National Airport picked up one inch in the last hour and has at least 3 inches on the ground. The sleet line is advancing north, however. Radar suggests it stretches from near Waldorf to Manassas to Front Royal. We’ve received reports of sleet near Middleburg, in northern Stafford County, around Fredericksburg and even as far north as Springfield. The Beltway area will probably transition to sleet over the next hour or so but another inch or so of snow could fall before the switch. Snow is falling heavily in some areas — or at a clip of more than one inch per hour. Baltimore-Washington International Marshall Airport recently reported visibility of one-eighth quarter mile in heavy snow. The limited visibility and snow-covered roads will make driving hazardous.

@AlanMCole But then it gets even more complicated as I’m a Hoosier being from Indiana, but I’m not a fan of the Hoosiers.

@maustermuhle They are also in a big history phase, so we got them some of Dominic Sandbrook's books for Xmas. We are also adding Little Women and the various Tolkien books.

OK, I need some help: For anyone who's got a 12-year-old kid, what books are they reading and really loving? Looking for ideas of books to get my daughter. (If you're reading this, kiddo, get off of social media.)

@amoylan @AlanMCole Mrs. K would be shocked at my writing skills now; she loved a green pen and would destroy all of my writing. She made me write affect/effect sentences almost weekly for an entire year, but, guess what, I don't mess them up anymore!

@AlanMCole Did we have the same English teacher? Mine would cross out entire paragraphs and just write "NO" in the margin. She would give grades like "D - - - - - - - - (GIFT)," like I'm gifting you the non-failing grade. Best teacher I ever had. Taught me thick skin and writing skills.

Yeah, the one English teacher who actually whipped me into shape was the semi-crazy one famous for giving horrific grades and violently crossing out big sections of your essays in red pen. (I strategically took her class already after I was into college.)
