Since 2020, 18 people have died while in the City’s custody at the City Justice Center (CJC), commonly called the City Jail. This is an unacceptable record by any standard of incarceration in the United States. It is made worse by this administration’s refusal to allow access to the jail for the Detention Oversight Board or to follow the law regarding access for attorneys. The commissioner appointed by the mayor was on leave and it was just announced that her employment was terminated with no further comment. While we commend this separation and have joined many in calling for it for months, the lack of clarity raises serious questions about who is accountable for overseeing the jail’s operations – while the number of deaths is rising. Addressing reckless motorbike/ATV use in #Ferguson. The other day, an offender attempted to elude our officers but unfamiliarity with the area led to a dead end. Rider apprehended, citations issued, ATV towed. Your safety is our priority. Irresponsible behavior won't be tolerated
