Nothern Kenya Media Practitioners (NKMP) Condemns Mandera North MP's Attack on Bloggers Following Accountability Demands. In a statement on Sunday evening, NKMP told the legislator that "Bloggers are active media practitioners—conducting citizen journalism, exposing corruption, and demanding transparency from leaders like himself—often risking much with limited support."

This is the future of devolved journalism; when every region reject to be used as a guinea pigs to platform Gachagua’s primitive tribalism. Where is the evidence that northern Kenya leaders have abandoned their people and now investing in Nairobi. Even if so, which regional elites don’t invest in Nairobi? Aren’t Kikuyu elites not investing in Nairobi? How about Kalenjin, Kisii, Luhya, Luo, Kamba, Meru…, etc,,, elites? All are investing in Nairobi. Profiling Somali elites and assuming their entire sources of income is devolution funds is merely perpetuating the myth that only elites of one group are entitled to progress while substantially in govt. This boycott serves him right…

BREAKING: Nothern Kenya media practitioners boycott Gachagua interview saying in a joint statement that, "After careful consideration and internal deliberations, we have concluded that proceeding with the interview would not align with our core principles of responsible journalism, national unity, and constructive public discourse. "We have been closely following the recent public statements and rhetoric, which have increasingly been characterized as divisive, often emphasizing ethnic and regional divisions at a time when Kenya needs voices that unite rather than polarize. "Furthermore, we are concerned about the potential for the interview to devolve into character assassination or the dissemination of unsubstantiated allegations against individuals or institutions, without adequate evidence or willingness to engage in balanced, fact-based dialogue. "As media outlets committed to upholding ethical standards, fostering informed debate, and promoting peace and cohesion in our society, we cannot in good conscience provide a platform that risks amplifying such harmful narratives. "This decision is not taken lightly, as we value the importance of giving public figures the opportunity to address the nation directly. "However, the assurance we sought—that the discussion would remain respectful, evidence-based, and focused on substantive issues—was not forthcoming."

To deny the Impeached Rigathi Gachagua an opportunity to address the North-Eastern audience, is precedented and totally professional. Because that dude is Tribal and a nation divider ASF. This is a good journalism that cares about our nation.

Contrary to the claims by Gachagua, the Nothern Kenya Media Practitioners Association withdrew from the roundtable interview due to reasons stated in our communique posted here earlier on. No threats were made against any of our journalists. It was absolutely apolitical.

It is utterly concerning that, despite several attempts to have the @MediaCouncilK to respond to calls by media practitioners from the region to address their concerns against those in authority, the Council remains inarticulate. When will MCK have an office in the region?
