I know people have said versions of this before, but it’s genuinely so insane that we watch corruption unfold in real time, officials caught in scandals, money disappearing, investigations quietly “closed,” victims never getting justice, and then we all just set our alarms for 7 a.m. and clock in like none of it happened.
We read the headlines on our lunch break. We rage scroll. We send each other links. And then we go back to spreadsheets and customer service voices and pretending everything is stable while the people in charge keep failing us.
It feels dystopian that the bar is in hell and we’re still expected to smile, be productive, pay taxes, and act like this is normal civic life. How are we not collectively screaming? How did survival mode become the default setting?
Some days it really does feel like you’re losing your mind for noticing that something is deeply wrong. But you’re not crazy for being overwhelmed. It’s exhausting to care in a world that keeps proving it doesn’t.
We’re not dramatic. We’re just tired of pretending this is fine.
