Safely home after hip replacement surgery, feeling rather sorry for myself - it hurts! Just watched the Blue Peter 65th Anniversary edition of @BBCBargainHunt. Sheer joy. Made me feel loads better. You probably have to be a Brit of a certain age to get that😊

@lescarr It’s great until the Xmas crowds start, then it’s awful. The South Bank is at its best at 8am on a crisp Sunday morning in spring, before the booksellers have set out their wares and you can hear the skateboarders in the undercroft all the way from Hungerford Bridge.

One of my absolute joys in life is walking along the South Bank in winter

@Grady_Booch Blimey. This was not how I expected to hear that hixie had left Google (we first met when he was a callow undergraduate and I was doing my PhD - I introduced him to W3C and Web standards).

@Kavey Oh no, this is purely a non-work thing. I was given the long arm stapler by an SF fan friend who had been using it to bind fanzines. In fact, a large part of my printing at work is *whispers* not for work.
